    1. Re: [AILLS] Just some tidbits on Thomas son of William
    2. I don't have any information on the Carroll family. I got my information from Liz. I remember her saying that according to the information she has that James and Elizabeth Carroll were very well off. They owned a lot of land and a lot of slaves. James had died leaving everything to Elizabeth. The 1870 census is the last we see of Ackland Aills. By 1870 Ackland's sister, Martha, was dead, her brother, Martin, was dead, and her parents were dead. Her brother, George, was living in Shreveport, LA and her sister, Mary Jane, was married and living in TX. Ackland was the only member of the Aills family left in the El Dorado area. I think Elizabeth and James Carroll were married some place other than Union County. I haven't found them in my Union County Marriage books. I just called Liz to be sure I am giving you the correct information, and I am. She thinks this Elizabeth that married James Carroll was Walker's sister. Liz even has the location of James Carroll's grave. Ackland may be buried there also, but I doubt that we will ever know that for sure. I'm sure there isn't a headstone. The burial place was likely on their property and the grave(s) are now lost. If anyone has access to census records you might check on James Carroll and see if any of the names look familiar. The only hole in this is, if I remember correctly, Elizabeth named her birth state as S. Carolina. Liz also mentioned that there were three other Elizabeth Aills in the MS area. I think I copied those marriage dates from books while I was there. One of those Elizabeth Aills in MS may be Walker's sister. However, the fact that Ackland Aills was living with Elizabeth Aills Carroll in 1870 is too strong for me to ignore. Marlene
