    1. Re: [AILLS] James Wesley Aills decendants
    2. Sandra, you said in message posted to the List on September 4, 2005 in response to Jinny: Jinny, It is not an absolute, but especially since Marlene found the information in LA and MS, I believe James Wesley Aills was a brother of Zaccheus, Walker, William and George Whitfield Aills and therefore a son of William and Molly. My ggggrandmother was Mathilda Carr, the daughter of Cornelius Carr and a man who did business with Zaccheus Aills. George W(hitfield) was a witness to the marriage between James Wesley Aills and Mathilda Carr. If you feel comfortable enough, you can place him as a son of William Aills and Molly Shackleford along with Zaccheus Aills. We know Walker Aills who moved to Union Co., AR and William and George W. who moved to Johnson Co., AR were the sons of William and Molly. Circumstances lead me to believe they were brother of Zaccheus and James Wesley. sandraR --------------------------------- There does seem to be quite a bit of "circumstantial" information to suggest that Zaccheus and Walker may have been brothers to each other and also brothers to William and George W. and sons of William and Molly. Besides their residence in East Feliciana Parish (per 1830 census records) and their business associations (per deeds Marlene obtained) in East Feliciana Parish, Walker and Zaccheus each named a son William (their oldest son, I think) and also they each named a son George, but it doesn't seem like there is very much circumstantial information suggesting James Wesley is a brother of Zaccheus and/or Walker. Although they had other sons, Walker and Zaccheus didn't name a son James; and James Wesley didn't name a son William or George. This is just my opinion, but I do believe ALL the Aills who were in Louisiana and Mississippi by 1825, plus or minus, were related, but I don't think that necessarily means they were all siblings, in fact, just my opinion, but I doubt it. In addition to some of the Aills males that are mentioned more often, we have Joel Aills, who was evidently in the area by 1813, John Aills in Amite County, MS by 1816 per Amite census (perhaps this was John Ferby Ailes), a James Ailes that is on 1818 State census of Adams County. These were grown men, obviously older than Walker and Zaccheus....and Joel for sure had several sons born before 1810, per Jefferson County, KY census and at least one son was still alive in 1817, which could have been James Wesley. Since the name James and John are amongst these other early Aills in the MS records, seems like it has to be considered that James Wesley could be a son of one of them....especially since he did name sons James and John. You told Jinny that if she is "comfortable enough" she can put both Zaccheus and James Wesley as sons of William Aills and Molly Shackleford. Does that mean you are comfortable enough to do that? I doubt you would suggest that idea to someone else if you weren't already comfortable with it yourself. Since there is not a record of James Wesley buying land in Union County, AR or any where else either next to or at the same time as Walker or Zaccheus, it rules out some of the circumstantial evidence you previously posted suggesting they were brothers. Do you have other circumstantial data that places James Wesley Aills as a son of William Aills and Molly Shackleford? I am still working on updating my James Wesley Aills file, and, like you, would like to have as much documentation as possible so that it will be accurate. Tarney
