    3. Dear Marlene, I have been thinking about you racking your brain trying to figure out who the three unidentified children on Walker and Martha's 1840 census were. I thought that maybe they belonged to John Ferby, and here is why. John F. Ailes married Mahala Andrews Aug.1,1825 in Ouachita Par. LA. She apparently died sometime before the 1830 La census was done. It appears that she died shortly after the birth of her last child.( a little girl) He later marries Elizabeth H. Smith I cannot recall the date. I believe they have some more children. Rhonda posted info on John Ferby a while back. I will look it up and resend it to the list. ..... I need to refresh my memory. I found John Ferby in Texas fighting in the Texas Revolution. What a guy........ He could have been there anytime between 1835-1842. He died ca 1838. I had wondered if he died in TX but I double checked and he applied for a pension. So you see........ I was wishing that he left his three sweet little children in the care of Martha and Walker while he went gallievanting off to Texas seeking adventure........BUT NOOOOOO. That would have been easy... It would have made a good story. So sadly I am back to square one. In 1830 John's house hold as follows.... 1 male 30-40- likely John F . 1 male 20-30-? still looking into that one 1 male under 5- James S.W.- dob- ca 1827. ( Texas Ranger in Goliad as per1860 census under the command of Capt. James Bagby- I have not been able to track him after that. I did find a James Ailes in the New Orleans Marriage index marrying Lucinda Cook on May 1,1882. I don't know if this is our James S.W. He would have been about 55 by then. 1 male 5-10 - Thomas P. -dob- ca 1825 - married Mary Moore- They had 2 daughters Mahala and Mary. I have a little more info on Mary Moores family and daughter Mary Ailes Flynn/Flinn . I will post what I have in case someone wants the info. I have not been able to track down daughter Mahala. So if any of you know what happeed to her please clue me in.... I also have additional info on Thomas P. to post. . 1 female under 5 ? - Levenia Ailes may be a possibility. She married Dr. Issac I. Newton in Ashley Co AR Nov.8,1854 I also found a James, Joseph and Nathaniel Addison on The Texas Rev.site. Nathaniel was from La. I wish I could find out if the other two were also from LA. Rhoda Caroline Wall Ailes married a James Addison after her second husband Obadiah Tate died. I found them in Tangiapohoa Par. LA. Rhoda C. Wall's first husband was William D.Ailes. His parents were Walker and Martha McClendon Ailes. I am still looking for William and Rhoda's daughter Also Named Rhoda. Liz
