    1. John Aills and his wives?????
    2. I've been corresponding with a lady who is a descendant of Rebecca Stallcup who was married to Walker Aills. She's not an Aills descendant but she's asking questions that I don't know the answer to. Maybe someone can help. What she says makes sense to me. She knows that Rebecca Stallcup was married to John Stallcup before she married Walker Aills. Rebecca was the daughter of John Stallcup and Jane Snicker. The John Stallcup she was marred to was the son of John Stallcup and Maria Morton. John Stallcup and Rebecca (Aills) Stallcup had several children, including Elias Stallcup and Elizabeth Stallcup. Keep in mind that these children would have been the half-siblings of John Aills, since he was the son of Walker and Rebecca. She has confirmed that there were two sisters, Rebecca Viors and Sarah Voirs. Elias Stallcup, son of John Stallcup and Rebecca (Aills) Stallcup, married Sarah Voirs. Elias was the half-brother of John Aills. The lady I'm talking with has in her data that John Aills, the half brother of Elias Aills, married Rebecca Voirs, the sister of Sarah Voirs. Half-brothers married sisters. John Aills married Rebecca Voirs on June 19, 1806 in Adams Co., Ohio. Now, Elizabeth Stallcup, daughter of John Stallcup and Rebecca (Aills) Stallcup married Lewis Colvin. Lewis Colvin had a sister Mary Colvin. My connection says that John Aills married Mary Colvin, Lewis's sister on Nov 28, 1808 in Adams Co., OH. In this case, John Aills and his half-sister married brother and sister. My connection does not believe that John Aills who married Elizabeth Brown on Jan 28, 1808 in Virginia was the son of Walker Aills. I agree, unless John married Rebecca Voirs in 1806. She died. He married Elizabeth Brown in Jan 1808. She died. He then married Mary Colvin in Nov 1808. That could work and would account for all the wives. I have the children of John Aills as Fanny Aills b 1808-- m to Martin Radar Elias Aills b 1813-- m Elizabeth Howard Thomas Aills b 1820 -- m Amanda Jane "Mandy" Swearingen Jacob Aills b 1822 -- m Sarah A Ravencraft Levi Aills b 1824 -- m Elizabeth Witty Are the above children those of Mary Colvin and John Aills? I think yes since Mary and John married in 1808. I then have the following children for John Aills and Christine Pendleton. Can someone confirm whether this is correct or not? Matilda Aills b 1849 (no further information) Harriett Amanda Aills b abt 1850 -- m Daniel Harrisson Springer James Pertnant Aills b June 10, 1852 -- m Martha J Clark If John Aills who married Elizabeth Brown in 1808 in Virginia was not the son of Walker, could he have been the brother of Walker and William? The two marriages in Adams County do make sense to me since they are marriages of siblings marrying siblings. Have any of you figured out and know who John Aills wives were and who the mothers of his children were? Pam, what do you have on John's marriages? Sandra

    3. I have in my record according to Anita Davis Smith, that children of John Aills was: Fanny, Elias, Jacob, Levi, Lewis. I did add Lewis as I thought that is where he was before I lost some of my genealoghy As far as Thomas I did not have him listed, but there again I think that may be correct---as I said I lost some of my gen. I, also have William Walker son of Walker. I have listed child of John and Christine Pendelon, Minerva, but that could be the case of not being able to read the fact sheet and it is probably Matilda. I will change mine to Matilda, Also, I do not have James Pertnant nor Harriett Amanda, again I tried to piece it all back together and I feel sure you are right, ( we could be postive on James Pertnant and maybe Harriett if we email Roberta. James Pertnant was one that her family branched off of.I know her genealogy is all correct. I am still so angry at myself for losing my info.I hope this does not confuse everyone, but I am open for the changes if need! be and I would appreciate so much all the info any of you send me. 1. new photos added to MyFamily site
    2. Carl Hughes went to Aills Cemetery in Vanceburg yesterday and took a bunch of photographs. I added the photos that I knew the names for. There's some on Evans, Kennedy and Scaggs that I didn't post since I didn't know how they related to Aills, if they do. If anyone would like for me to add them, I will. One of you might have relatives with those names in Lewis Co. I'm going to keep looking for connections. I'm curious as to what the man who mows the grass could tell us about Aills. I made that photo the 'cover' photo on MyFamily. Enjoy the photos..... and a big thanks to Carl Hughes. Sandra

What I attempted to send to you when I said I sent my entire Aills file was a copy of the FTM file that I work on every day. I created a GED or whatever it's called and since you said you have FTM you should have an exact duplicate of what I have as of the day I sent it. I'll add the names you sent on Robert Aills. 3. Thanks San, that clarifies my issue about Harold. I had or have a cousin in CA and he was a dancer in the movies. Don't know his name or much about him. I thought it was Harold, but guess not. One of these days I may try to locate someone out there and asked about that cousin. I have a cousin in Oregon,I think, and he gave me his sisters email. I tried 2-3 times and got no answer. The last time I tried she sounded very hateful about me trying to find out about her. She said, Well so you have finally found me, so what do you want. that sort of irritated me, no hello or anything else, so I just dropped her out of our genealogy. 3. Hi San. Just wanted to let you know that I have been tooling around on my family.com and then checked file cabinet and lo and behold I found the listing of the Aills Family from Walker on down. I was thrilled to pieces. Question: Is that where I was supposed to look when you said you sent it all to me? Now I can start entering it all onto my family tree. I am so excited. One thing I noticed, when I got down to Jacob Wesley then Robert Wesley (his son) you only had listed Etta, Lester, Delbert J. and Minnie Maybelle. There should be 5 more listed to make total of 9 children for Robert Wesley and Maude E. Aills and their families. Were not all nine listed in that Robert Aills files: There should be as follows, Edna June Searle, Juanita Walters, Wilma Ray, Bobby Jr., and Virginia. If you need the dates, it would be awhile before I could send the dates, etc..I still do not have my files up to date yet. 2. Has anyone taken the Aills in the Ohio census records and attempted to create a file on Ohio Aills? Since talking with Harold Aills I'm curious to look at Ohio Aills to try to connect them all to Walker and William OR to find out if there really was another AILLS family in Ohio. I haven't spent any time trying to locate and merge the Ohio Aills. Also I think there are some in Missouri that I've neglected. I'm going to work on Ohio Aills for a while. Sandra

    2. This one bounced so I'm resending it. sandra hello, From making contact with one of the folks in Lewis Co., he gave me the name of Napoleon's granddaughter who lives on Aills Rd in Vanceburg. I just talked with Peggy and she gave me her uncles name and phone number. Her uncle, Napoleon's son is still living and is 75 years old. Peggy does not have a computer but she's going to send me photos of Napoleon and his wife Georgia Alice Kitchen. Her uncle is Harold Aills, the youngest son of Napoleon and Alice. She said Uncle Harold has a lot of old photos and knows a lot of the family history and she thought he would be interested in talking with me. As a side note, Peggy says there are a bunch of Aills people living around there but she was always told there were two Aills families in Lewis County but they were not related to each other. She said the John Aills family from Maysville were said to not be related to her family.... I guess there was a split between Walker and William's families. I'm going to call her again and call Uncle Harold. Roberta, are you familiar with these people on Aills Rd in Vanceburg? Sandra

    1. Family resemblance?????
    2. Good morning, A few days ago Liz sent me a photo of a portrait drawing of an Isaac C. Ailes that she found online. The URL to see the photo of Isaac C. Ailes is http://www.pitt.edu/~tzems/p433.jpg. (you can copy and paste the URL to see the photo.) I kept thinking the photo looked familiar and it's been bugging me. It hit me this morning that Isaac C. Ailes reminded me of the photo of Christopher C Aills that Debbie Chambers posted to the Aills MyFamily.com site. Pull up the two photos and see if you don't think there's a "family" resemblance between the two. To me, the drawing of Isaac C. Ailes could have been a drawing of Christopher C. Aills. If you'll search the site the drawing is on, there's a nice biography of Isaac C. Ailes. Isaac is the son of Moses Ailes of the Ailes/Bowater line. Moses had land in Kentucky. I've always wondered if he was connected to Walter and William. Another thought, notice how much the son of CC Aills (far left, page 2 in photos) resembles Karen's McCorkle family (photos page 15). If we could just get some DNA............. Sandra

Heath and Eliza Jane Dickeson I just posted some information I didn't have to the MyFamily site on Eliza Jane Dickeson. It's in the "News" section of MyFamily. William W. Heath was one of the sons of Nancy Aills and James W. Heath. Vern Dickeson sent the information to me and gave me permission to post it. Vern also included an Ancestors tree that I did not post. Eliza Jane was the daughter of Henry D. Dickeson and Mary Ervin. Eliza had a sister Sarah who was married to WASHINGTON AILLS. Here's the information Vern had on Sarah: ii. Sarah Dickeson, born 1830; died Bef. 1870; married Washington Aills December 02, 1858 in Lewis Co. KY; born 1823; died Bef. 1900. Notes for Sarah Dickeson: After the passing of Sarah sometime before 1870, Washington Aills married Celia A. Lougheridge. They had the following children: Mary Eliza Aills born 1872 George W Aills born 1873 Napolion B Aills born 1878 Washington Aills born 1879 John Wheeler Aills born 1884 I did not have that Washington had been married to a Sarah Dickeson. 2. Tarney, I'm sorry I have not said thank you for transcribing the documents until now. Thank you! I know how hard it is to transcribe those things. Do we have any idea who the James S.W.Aills and and the Thomas P Aills is that they involve? I seem to remember Liz posting something that related to them months ago but I don't remember what she said. When my computer crashed I lost all the personal notes I'd saved for at least two years on Aills. Thanks again, Tarney, Sandra
