Van Buren Press, February 1, 1861 Van Buren, Crawford County, AR GOLD IN CRAWFORD COUNTY We learn that Gold has been found in this county. Specimens of which have been presented to practical miners, who have been to California, and they pronounce it gold without a doubt. We do not learn of any other tests being applied to the specimens. The whole matter has been and is kept secret as possible. It is understood however, that the locality where the gold is said to have been discovered is on Cedar Creek, about 10 miles from the city.
