Saturday, November 18, 1843 Arkansas Intelligencer Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas NOTICE We the undersigned, having the protection of the citizens of this frontier at heart, and honestly believing that the paucity of troops stationed upon our frontier, leaves us in a great measure unprotected and defenseless; and believing the General Government, if correctly informed of our situation, will at once see the policy of strengthening the Frontiers Posts, and thereby secure the tranquility amoung the tribes of Indians, confidence and assured protection to the citizens who live near the boundary line between Arkansas and the Indian Country. To make known our views, an to express the undivided sentiments of the people of this county. We would earnestly request the citizens of Crawford County to meet at the court house in Van Buren, on Saturday, the 25th instant, and there confer together in relation to the policy of the Government, and defenseless situation of our portion of the country.
