Advertisement in the Arkansas Intelligencer in 1843 reads as follows: January 13, 1843 COLUMBUS HOTEL- VAN BUREN, ARK The subscriber would respectfully inform the citizens of Van Buren, and the travelling community, that he has taken the above valuable Tavern stand, where he is ready to furnish travelers, and boarders at a very moderate price, with the best the country affords, and in a style inferior to no hotel in the State. By strict attention to business he hopes to receive a share of public patronage.
