Hi folks! I am trying to find out about my great-grandfather's (Leroy Stokes Kemp, Sr.) death. He died 1/4/1887. There are 2 stories about his death. One is that a horse fell on him and he froze to death. The second story is that he fell into the Arkansas (I believe it's the Arkansas) river while going for supplies and froze that way. My uncle has searched the newspapers of the time and can find no account of his death. Leroy Stokes died near Providence, Arkansas. Apparently there was a Baptist church there that is still there. Does anybody know of that church and could maybe provide me with its address and phone number? Also, does anyone have any ideas as to where else to look? Thanks for all your help!
