John, An additional thought is that you might try locating your soldier in the _Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System_. You can search very broadly by choosing from the categories at the top o the search engine page the various lists within the system. I once found an obscure southern partisan leader simply by doing an electronic search for his name in the Official Records of the War of the Rebellion, laughing at my own desperation as I hit "Enter." Imagine my surprise when "Tuck Smith" harvested a full typed page. The odds were almost unimaginable. First, "Tuck" is a nickname! Secondly, his surname was "SMITH!!" Nevertheless, there he was --raising hob with the Federal troops occupying Fayetteville, AR. I guess the moral involved is the familiar "Don't give up." <http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.htm> Best wishes, Ed [email protected] wrote: > Hello Ed: > > Thanks for your response.
