I'm working on a history of my HOLSTED line and am trying to locate two photos from the Marshall area (Searcy County) from about 1922 through the mid 1970's. One building was on the square in Marshall and was primarily a feedstore with a few drygoods. It was owned and operated by my aunt Minnie (HOLSTED) BRYAN and her husband Emory BRYAN. The second structure I can only describe as an old two story frame house that was a block off the square. In about 1922 my maternal gandmother Mertey Mae (MARTIN) JACO rented this house and turned it into a rooming house. She used the income to pay the tuition for her two daughters to attend Marshall High School. Those daughters (my mother Eula ( JACO) HOLSTED and Alva (JACO) GRIFFIN graduated May 1926. At about that time my grandmother gave up the house. However, it was still standing sometime in the 1970's when my aunt and mother went back to Marshall for a visit. If anyone has photos of these structures, or even newspaper clippings that show them, I would like to obtain copies for my book. Polly Holsted Rea [email protected]
