According to my calculations, my family arrived in Arkansas ca. 1857-58, based on the age of the last child born in S. Carolina. The first record of their names are found on the Freedman's Bureau Records Labor Contracts (information found by Michelle Hood). Dated 1866, Drew County, field office Monticello. Their *employer* was W.H. Green. No first name, I can only guess that it's William H. Green. There is one (1) William H. H. Green on the 1850 Bradley County census as being 9 years old. Why isn't there a 1860 census record for W.H. Green in 1860 either in Bradley or Drew County? By 1870 my family is living in Clay Township, Bradley County, they are the only Green's in that township. You know how 'families stick together' as far as neighbors go. You see a group of 'Childs-Davis, etc.' all living in groups, and here's the Greens, sticking out like a sore thumb, no others around. I need help with the 1860s, what township did this W.H. Green live in? I can't even make a 'chip' in this brick wall. Help! Dena.
