At least three members of the James&Matilda Burton family of Russell&Lee Counties, Ala. disappeared into Arkansas. At least one, I suspect, before or around 1860. His name was Ramsey. He was still alive in1899 and living in Arkansas. He had a sister and a brother, both somewhat younger, who moved to the state. The sister, born about 1861, married Richard E. Johnson in Alabama before they moved. Luvenia (Burton) Johnson was alive in 1924 and living somewhere in Arkansas. She had at least three children, one of whom was alive in 1900. The brother Alexander, born around 1870, was also alive in 1924 and was living in Arkansas. Death Certificates could tell me something of course, but I have no idea what counties any lived in nor the dates of their deaths. The Arkansas History Commission keeps a record of deaths between 1914 and 1949, but they did not seem to have information regarding either Luvenia or Alexander. (I knew nothing about Ramsey's existence at the time of my request.) Is there anyone on the website who may be able to help in my quest? Thanks, A.A.Wallace --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
