Hello I am new to this list and I am lost. We have been looking for our grandfather. He married Mrs. Rowena "May" BLAYLOCK MURPHY who was born in Arkansas, probably Yell Co., 1876. Impossible to find a John ATTEBERRY born the same date, (abt. 1877-88)and most of the Atteberry and spelling variations are genealogically mapped. So ran into one line who has a Johnny ATTEBERRY born circa 1880. Now it is believed that this Johnny went to Arkansas when he was 16. He has never been tracked (impossible). He is only known of by a 93 yr old Atteberry of that line (so family hearsay). It has been said by this man that Johnny made contact with the family in 1936 or 1937, stating that he was working or owned a peach orchard. My John Atteberry first shows up in 1910 Union County, OR census showing he and "May's" first child born in Oklahoma 1908 and married 1906. I would have thought May was still living in Arkansas at that point but guess not. So it shows her older MURPHY children being born in Oklahoma by 1903...earliest. She must have married MURPHY in OK. Wonder if anyone has any advice or history of peach orchards in 1937. I am definately digging for straws here. But am really trying to find my grandfather. He may have left Arkansas to be in Oklahoma by 1945, not sure just a guess.
