Van Buren Press Crawford County, Arkansas July 2, 1910 THE BIG FOURTH Monday, July 4, promises to be a very quiet day for Van Buren, as most of our leading merchants have agreed to close their stores all day and give their employees a holiday. Several picnics will be held at different points in the county, but the biggest one of them all will be at Uniontown. This little city promises all who attend that they will not have a pig race, nor a fat man's race, nor any "monkey" business, but that they will have a picnic and social reunion, with good speaking, singing, swinging and drinking pop and lemonade. They will also have Cherokee singing by work and note by full blood Cherokees. This picnic will be under the management of the school directors of that thriving little city which is a guarantee in itself that all of our citizens who attend are assured a good time.
