Jan, you should realize this list is dead and these requests for a newsletter are the best thing to show up on this list. You need to take your iron hand and use it in a more useful place. I don't know what your objective is as manager of this list, but I do swear you need to take lessons from others. You killed this list by your restrictions, and as most folks think of you....you want to be the power person and that does nothing good for folks wanting to research their Arkansas families. This should be a casual list where folks feel free to ask questions, wether they are stupid or not....this should be a list where folks feel free to come home to............but you cut them off at the draw and this is why AFHA has shoved you into the background...........folks now think of Arkansas History as the AFHA list, not the original AGS list............you have buried yourself and many others in a hole where they don't feel comfortable asking questions, answering questions, or simply making crazy statements. You come across as the leader, yet you don't seem to have any leading ability when it comes to folks just wanting to "know." We get all these braggarts of Arkansas History..a few think they know it all..........we have experienced their judgements and cancellations of our thoughts...........but let me say this......no one is immune to anything..........like me not being particularly happy to be connected to Bill Clinton, altho, I love him and would vote him into office again in a moment..........this is a history I've worked on for years with Mary Nell Turner in Hope, and because of this connection to my family, I was invited to the presidential library opening. I kept looking for faces connected to Arkansas History and I came up "zilch."To me this is a simple way of knowing that if our families were connected in earlier days........they are not necessarily felt ain n important way today. Funny, but when I used to listen to my husband's grandmother talk about her aunt, Bill Clinton's grandmother'............I never gave a thought to it............yet now I know how very closely our families were connected...........do I shun him? or do I claim him?.............well I wish to claim him. I do wish to disclaim some folks who raped the value of our history. Jann If I want to start a new Arkansas List.............how would that go over??
