I just wanted to share the discovery of some newly found graves on the outskirts of Newark, Arkansas. In a Cemetery that has been pretty much unknown about and abonded, other than Hiram McClelland being buried there. The Newly found graves here were found by Three Great people of Arkansas (Ann Moore (Griffin=maiden name) and her Husband, who live next door to the Graveyard, and Lee Neil. They are very wonderful people who took the time to help me search for my Great Great Grandparents, and in doing so, found more than we we were looking for. I was searching for (2) of my Great Great Grandpa's and (1) of my Great Great Grandma's, which I'm told is buried here by my Great Unlce Pleas Henderson who is 80 yrs old now. And, im told they dont have gravestone's! I was told that the road next to the graveyard is is built over some of the old graves. This is a horrible thought. I understand that it may have been a common mistake due to the graves not having any markers but, I dont want it to be true, beings how my family and others are buried there. My Great Great Grandpa's names were Pleasant Henderson born in October 1862/Died @1906 and William Henry Liles Died @ 1914/15 at the age of 78. William Henry Liles 2nd wife is buried here too, She is my Great Great Grandma, and her name is Mary Liles (Rudisill=maiden name) Died @1897. I'm hoping that someone can help me find out if there is a Church that may have kept records about this or something of that nature? Or maybe a city paper that may tell some history of this town other than that the Newark book about this town has very vague information on the deaths in this town. Im thinking that my family didnt have the money to get descent markers during this time frame, but I want to fix this and get this resolved by identifing that they are there and I'm going to get them properly remembered and identified with headstones. What can I do, to find out for sure that there are more people than this buried there. Is there a way to tell that people other than those with headstones are buried there???? I appreciate everyones help in this. I think its a really good network here at this genealogy site, and its truely amazing at how we help each other & that we can accomplish so much in numbers... Thank you all for your dedication and devotion to what we do here. Timothy Ray Henderson Jacksonville, Florida (U.S. NAVY/ACTIVE) hungriwolf1@aol.com
