Greetings1 I have been hitting the proverbial brick walls for many years in trying to get a line on my grandfather, John Anner Cunningham, his brother George W. Cunningham, or their sister Fannie or Alice Cunningham. John was born in Jackson County, Arkansas on December 23, 1859, as far as we know. No information on the others, but oral family history has told us that the three children were virtual orpahns of the Civil War. Another piece of oral history has told my family that John (and perhaps George, too) were befriended by a riverboat captain by the name of Captain Mann. My family always assumed it was on the Mississippi River which it could have been, but it also could have been on the Arkansas, I suppose. Does anyone know where to check on riverboat captains on either river? Thanks, Bruce Cunningham
