I am looking for information if there was a Deaf & Mute Institute in Little Rock, Ark. in 1880, There was a family named White who were coming to Arkansas from Alabama and the parents were murdered some where on the way by some indians. They had two small children that was not murdered and were found by a Dupriest family that came to Searcy, Ark. in about 1850/55, The childrens names were James and Nancy White. Nancy White was supposed to of went to Little Rock, Pulaski Co. Ark. to live, and in the 1880 census there was a Nancy White listed as being 26 years of age in Big Rock township, Pulaski Co. That would make her age about right to of been born abt. 1854,. ( Could this of been the Nancy White, I am trying to find? ) James White the brother of Nancy died 23 Feb. 1875 of pneumonia. James and Nancy were part Cherokee Indian. All of the above was written by a Reben White of Lovell, Wyoming, 82431. who is 91 years old, Reben was related some way to the white Children. If there is anyone that has info about a deaf & Nute Institute, about 1800 I will appreciate it very much if you would contact me at jot72121@alltel.net and I will forward if on to Mr. White. Thank you very much.
