John is listed as Jake King on the 1870 Mortality schedule for Arkansas, age 72, died of Typhus Fever. Family is found originally in Guilford Co, NC, and then on the 1850 census for Meigs County, TN. They probably lived there until their move to Montgomery Co, AR between 1867-1869. Married to wife #1, Elizabeth GARRETT 30 Sep 1821. Children of this marriage include: (1)Elizabeth King, b 25 Sep 1823 NC (2) Joshua Garrett King b 16 Jan 1827 Guilford Co, NC, d 24 Jan 1903 Whitt, Parker Co, TX. (this is my line) (3) Nancy Marilla King, b 05 Dec 1829 NC, m Shedrick WILLIAMS 10 Oct 1850. Had dau, Mary Suzan 09 Nov 1851. (4) Alfred M. King, b 08 Aug 1832 TN, m Sarah ROGERS 23 Mar 1858. (5) Susanna Jane King b 13 Jan 1835 TN, m Wm. SPICER, had sons Henry and Arishtac. (6) Mariann King, b 13 Dec 1838 TN, m Louis SPICER 06 Jan 1856. Married to wife #2, Elizabeth DEARING, 14 Sep 1853. Elizabeth Dearing King was born about 1834 TN (census data), and died 12 Dec 1878 AR. Elizabeth appears on the 1870 census in Mergoin, Montgomery Co. Children of this marriage: (1) Joseph A. G. King, b 09 Mar 1859 TN, d 17 May 1865 of Smallpox. (2) William I. King, b 08 aug 1864 TN, d 19 May 1865 of Smallpox.
