    1. [AGS] Migratory Route
    2. Hello, I have run into such a stubborn brick wall, that I have decided to try another approach. Surname(s): HESTERLY, HESTERLEY,HASTERLY, HETHERLEY or variants My Basic Facts: My earliest record of a person with my surname is 1688 in VA, then there is an approximate 100 year break until another is found in 1778 in Anne Arundel, MD, my next appearance is in 1779 in SC/GA, but my earliest documented connection is 1820 in Hall County GA. As you can see the sitings are scattered over the MidAtlantic Coast and the Southeastern states. Now to my question: Is there a recognized route that people used to travel southward from, say, Maryland or Pennsylvania to Georgia? Based on the belief that people "worked" their way along their journey, I thought that it would give me a chance to backtrack along it to see if there were any signs of my ancestors having been present. I am open to any and all suggestions Thank you for your assistance. Hal Hesterly
