    3. Does anyone have any information on a John Stewart/Stuart who was a sergeant in Clinch's Company (pre-1820; War of 1812?) 7th regiment? He was granted 160 acres in Arkansas in 1820. Is there anyone who has any information on the John Stewart who had several land grants in Ashley Co, AR. Was there a plantation? According to my aunt, my grandfather, William Allen Stewart, talked about there being two houses; one new and the other used for storage; the family cemetery being between the two. I am trying to find the parents and siblings (if any) of Alexander Stewart; born abt 1837; Alexander's wife was Amanda Williams; bn 1823 in TN. She is on the 1850 census for Coahoma Co, MS. She and Alexander were married at Friar's Point, Coahoma Co, MS abt 1868. Does anyone have the 1870 or 1880 censuses for Coahoma Co, MS or Ashley Co, AR? Alexander would have been abt 33yrs old and Amanda abt 47 in 1870. In 1880 they should have a son, John age 6 (born in March? of 1874). In 1870, deBastrop twnshp, Ashley Co, AR, there is a Jane Stewart age 51 (John's wife?) with Kinman (spelling is questionable) age 18 and Emma age 12. [could Kinman & Emma be servants? Would they have used the surname Stewart?] 1900 census; same twnshp, same county, there is Alexander, head of household; age 63 Amanda, age 77 Mary Williams (niece) age 44 John W. (son) age 26 Lula (nee Lindsey-daughter-in-law) age 25 William A. bn 1895 (my grandfather) Manda M. (Amanda) bn 1896 John E. bn 1898 [no Jane, no Kinman, no Emma-where did they go?] John and Lula had Nannie Adele Stewart in 1902; Amanda died abt 1905; John "disappeared" and Lula moved back home to her father, Harrison B. Lindsey with her four children around 1905. According to my aunt and mother, Lula moved home because it was unseemly to remain living with Alexander being there were no other women in the household and her husband had "gone west". What could have possibly happened to John W. Stewart? Family folklore has it that he was missing a leg. Is there anyone who could do a look-up to see whether John & Lula divorced in 1905, Ashley Co, AR? My grandfather would not discuss his father, John W. Lula moved to Florida to help my grandfather raise my mother and aunt in 1945.
