    1. [AGS] Stewarts and inheritance question
    2. Lisa M Wagner
    3. Maybe someone could answer this burning quesiton: My great-grandfather "went west" sometime between the birth of his last child, 1902 and the death of his grandmother, 1905. His name was John Wesley Stewart. I asked my aunt if she thought my great-grandmother, Lula Lindsey Stewart would have asked for a divorce on the grounds of abandonment and her reply is below. "I don't think that she would have done that--in any case, she lived on the Stewart place until Jane died--at least that is the way it looks to me. One thing that I have never understood--why John's children didn't inherit anything from their grandmother's estate. And I wonder if that was becoz he was still alive somewhere." Just for general information: The Stewarts lived in deBastrop Twnshp, Ashley Co, AR. John's father was Alexander Stewart; mother was Amanda Williams Stewart - I believe she died in 1903; grandmother was Jane Stewart. I have no idea when Alexander died - it would have been after 1905 as he was still alive when Lula moved home back to her father's, Harrison B. Lindsey. John and Lula's children were Amanda, William, John, and Nannie. They had two children that died during infancy: Alexander and Fanny. So why didn't my grandfather and his siblings inherit anything? Could Alexander have had siblings? As far as we know John was an only child. Any information would be greatly and deeply appreciated! ~Lisa Wagner thatwagnerwoman@juno.com ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET!
