    1. Joseph W. & Ellis/Ellen L. Hamilton
    2. Hello all, I just wanted to thank all of those that replied and had information in my previous request for help finding records on Joseph and Ellen Hamilton. With the leads that I received, I have been able to take Joseph's line back 2 more possibly 3 more generations. Also while researching last night, found out where Joseph and Ellis/Ellen are buried and what year that they died. Thank you all for your help. I now have a couple of questions for you. With information that was provided to me before, I have been able to order a Death Certificate for Joseph and I am preparing to order Ellis's. What I was wondering was, do they have Death Indexes for 1945. I have found that Ellis died in 1945 and is buried with Joseph and one son in Sardis Cemetery, Stamps, Lafayette Co., AR. Her marker only has a birth year and death year. I was hoping to get an exact death date. I also have a very big request. Would it be possible to get a list of any Death and Marriage dates for all Hamiltons listed in Lafayette Co., AR from as early as possible to 1930-1940. I am trying to prove relationships between all of the Hamilton lines in that county and trying to tie them all together. I now that this is a large request, but I would appreciate all of the help that you can offer. I plan on ordering several more Death Certificates as my finances allow. Can someone tell me what Marriage, Birth, and Death Indexes are available and where they might be at. I have looked on the LDS FamilySearch site to order microfilm, but there is hardly any vital records available to order in Lafayette and Nevada Counties. Thank you again for all of your help. 3. Really, you are very luck to find out this much on an Arkansas Confederate soldier. Usually there is little in the way of biographical data in these records. What I would do is locate this man on the 1860 U. S. Census. This will tell us where he lived, and may even tell about his family. Did you check to see if his widow received a Confederate pension record? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Russell P. 1. Gormans of Bradley County
    2. I am trying to find the parents of my GGGM SARAH ANN GORMAN WALKER (September 10, 1828 - November 24, 1909). She was b in Alabama and died in Union Parish, Louisiana. I believe her parents were SIMPSON GORMAN and VASHTI VANN/VAN GORMAN; though I can find no tangible proof of this. Sarah's 2nd baby was b in Arkansas ca 1851 and must've died shortly thereafter . She has 6 other children who are easily traced through marriages and death in Louisiana. In 1860, GEORGE GORMAN and his family live near Sarah and her family in Union Parish. Later, George moves to Bradley County, Arkansas. I've been to Bradley County looking for some will, probate, etc. that links Sarah with these people. They are in Alabama when Sarah is born. Can anyone help me? I can't even show for sure that Sarah and George Gorman are brother and sister. Any help/suggestion/information/anything sure would be appreciated. Jo Bennett

    3. My great-grandfather George Harvey Polk was born between 1849 and 1861. His parents were Joseph Polk and Nancy Couch, and his siblings were Nancy, Belle, Frank, William, and Seliam. He may have been born in St. Clair, County, Illinois or St. Louis, Missouri. The earliest census I've located him in is in 1900 in Calhoun County, Mississippi. He moved there in 1900 after having lived and married in Mississippi County, Arkansas. He lived in several counties of Mississippi before moving to Walker County, Alabama before 1920. His marriage to my great-grandmother (nee: Pittman) was his second marriage. He had two children from his first marriage named Pearl and Connie. Pearl was born in Tennessee and Connie in Kentucky, their births being possibly between 1895 and 1899. I have not been able to locate Pearl or Connie in any census year except 1920 where they are young adults living with their father, George Polk, in Alabama. Either Pearl or Connie may have married and moved to New York. I'm trying to find the link between George and his parents, his siblings, the daughters from his first marriage, and earlier Polk ancestors. Any information on this line would be greatly appreciated! Kathy

    1. Lookup please Brown/King
    2. Mueller, Kathy
    3. I was wondering if someone could do a lookup for me. I'm looking for a Lucinda King b.(abt) 1818-1820 she married William C. Brown in 1841 in Yell county I know they had one daughter Mary A. b. (abt) 1846. I found Lucinda in the 1860 census, and 1880 census. I was wondering if someone could find her in the 1840 census, she was born in Ark, shows that her parents were too in the census. If someone could also look up the marriage, because in the book it gives ages, well at least the book from 1850 to 1900 did. And if someone could do an 1840 lookup for Lucinda King. Note: I've looked for these online and the page is either not avaiable or I'm missing something here. An Index lookup for the census will be fine I can order the microfiche here, I just can't confirm if she in there or not.

    2. Peggy: You can go to Rootsweb.com, and on that page as you scroll down, on your left, is the "Message Boards", click on "Topics" under that heading. then the next page you will find "Census". click on "Census" and go to state of Arkansas. Put your query on that message board with significant info and someone will look it up in their index. good luck, Cyrille ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand!
