    1. Arkansas confederate citizen
    2. Ken l Ford
    3. Hi, I am looking for more information on Mathew Sommerville. He is listed as being buried in National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, MO, and that he died 14 December 1864 in a federal prison, but instead of a unit # and rank, he is listed as a "Citizen of Lawrence County AR" Can anyone tell me how to find more information on his imprisonment and death? If he were a soldier there would be a military file, but could there be one of a citizen because he was held in a union prison? Also, has anyone researched this area before that could answer, why would a civilian have been taken prisoner. Could it be simply that he was a confederate citizen, or would he have had to commit a "crime" in order to be taken prisoner? I would appreciate if anyone could recommend readings on the subject of Arkansas in the Civil War. Thanks for your time and help! Sincerely, Shantell Ford ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Surf the Web up to FIVE TIMES FASTER! 1. AGS lookups - fiche (Divorce & Marriage)
    2. I was bowsing on the AGS webpage for publications and fiche -- I found what I was looking for the 1950 AR Death Records. I was wondering if anyone on the list has the fiche for marriages (133-39) and divorces (1923-27 & 1934-39)? If so, I would like to ask if I could get lookups. Since you need a microfiche reader for these records, if anyone goes to their local library or local LDS Family History Center, I'd sure appreciate some help. The marriages fice, there are 180 of them, are beyond my picket right now. The divorce records, although reasonably priced, are somewhere down the line for me in purchase. Thanks for any help, Cyrille ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Surf the Web up to FIVE TIMES FASTER! 3. You can do two things. You can order a copy of the death certificate and look it over. Or, you can visit our research room - or get some one to do so - and look for an obit. for this person. It should tell you if it is the right person or not. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Russell P. 1. Re: Emailing: funeralHList/Setser
    2. I thank you so kindly for the funeral home index, but as luck would have it this isn't my gr-grandpa. There were several George Washington Setsers in the world at one time. Why make things easy, right? The funeral home's records start in 1963 so it can't be him. I do see several other relatives listed so perhaps I can add info to their family pages - that would be great! Again, thank you so much for your efforts. Carol

    2. Rhonda Finkbiner
    3. I wondered if anyone researching the James C. Walker walker line had any pictures of Him or his family. Or maybe somebody in Arkansas had any idea of where i can look for pictures of this family? Here is a little history for comparison. I am searching for information on james walker born in 1821 in tenn. I have been unable to find out who his parents are or his siblings. He moved to Boone co, ark at some point. I know he was married 3x to martha patsy smith, mary polly roberts, jullia ann???? I do know this Walker line intermarried with the Smith, Roberts, Henson lines. Rhonda

    1. Re: [AGS] Cannot find death certificate/SETSER
    2. No, he was definitely "at home" as he was retired and also had been ill for some months (I don't know what he died of, but suspect pneumonia). I believe the state in which one dies is the state that issues the death certificate. Thanks, Carol In a message dated 6/24/2004 2:30:45 PM Pacific Daylight Time, mcbean@cwis.net writes: Oops! I read the email too fast, I guess... I see where you said that about the check to both states. That is odd neither of them could find anything... wonder if it's possible he died out of state, while on a trip maybe. If so, would THAT state have issued the death certificate or would his state of residence have issued it?

    2. I'm answering directly to the list in case any information exchanged could be helpful to others in suggestions. He ministed in both AR and OK. In fact, I have a copy of his ordination papers but, of course, that is of no help in finding where he died. Any info you can pass along from your Baptist book would be wonderful! I know I have good facts on everything else about him, just can't find proof of where he died. Thanks so much, Mary!
