    1. [AGS] 1895 US Atlas and 1892 World Atlas sites
    2. Lois
    3. If you go to this site, you get in at the beginning of the site. You can research any town, county or state in the U.S. in 1895. It is a 1895 U.S. Atlas with maps, info on population (in 1895), whether town had post office, train station and/or freight depot. You can download maps and print them out for your records, also. http://www.livgenmi.com/1895.htm When the home page is downloaded, click on the list of towns and cities in the state you are researching. This will take you to a site that lists them by beginning letter. Click on the approp. letter and a whole list will come up. After you find the town you want and get the info from the list, click back to the home page and click on the approp. map. The maps take about 5 minutes download, but are well worth the wait. She also has an historical 1892 World Atlas online at: http://www.livgenmi.com/1892gardinertitle.htm Use this one to look up sites in the "old" world. Good luck and happy hunting! Lois

    1. [AGS] 1895 Maps
    2. A couple of days ago Ellen Parker graciously sent to the list the URL of 1895 maps of Arkansas counties. The URL was: <http://livgenmi.com/arcounty.htm> It was a wonderful map site and in playing around with it I found that you can do the same thing for any state in 1895 by changing the "ar" before "county" to any two letter state abbreviation. For example, for Tennessee the URl is: <http://livgenmi.com/tncounty.htm> Thought this might be of interest to the list. Jan E.

    3. "Map Guide to the U.S. Federal Censuses, 1790 - 1920" by William Thorndale and William Dollarhide shows county boundaries for each census year along with current boundaries in a faint outline. It was recommended to me as an excellent resource for determining just which county might hold records for our ancestors at a given time. I thought someone else might have use for the information.

    2. Howard Reed was born in TN. about 1826. Married Frances Billingsby in DeSoto MS. in 1847. Two of their children were born there. Jefferson William Reed was one of them. He also was known as William J. Reed. They moved to Arkansas and he married a Nancy Burgoyne. Her mothers name was Sarah from South Carolina. She married Lewis Burgoyne. I would like to know her Maiden name. Jefferson Reed died when my grandfather, Taylor Reed was a small boy. Taylor was born in 1883. The accidental death took place at Tucker's Sawmill near England Arkansas. I do not know where he was buried or the year." Woodsman of the World" was imprinted on Taylor's tombstone with 2 axes. I'd like to more about that as it must have meant something to him. Taylor Reed married my grandmother, Elzie(Elsie) Sinclair, daughter of Noah and Nellie Ward in 1919. Any information no matter how small would be appreciated. -Pat- kittyink@aol.com
