    3. Hi Carol... I'd like to refer you to this page. You can research any town, county or state in the U.S. in 1895. It is a 1895 U.S. Atlas with maps, info on population (in 1895), whether town had post office, train station and/or freight depot. You can download maps and print them out for your records, also. This will enable you to find info without having to ask others for help. http://www.livgenmi.com/1895.htm When the home page is downloaded, click on the list of towns and cities in the state you are researching. This will take you to a site that lists them by beginning letter. Click on the approp. letter and a whole list will come up. After you find the town you want and get the info from the list, click back to the home page and click on the approp. map. The maps take about 5 minutes download, but are well worth the wait. Good luck and Happy Hunting! Lois in CA

    1. [AGS] coal miners
    2. Thanks for the list. Maybe the person who complained was having a bad day. I look at the list for relatives because I know many men would leave home to work and send the money home. My family in Murfreesboro today had to leave many times to make enough to support the families. So never leave any stone uncovered, because that may be your lost family. Now lets all enjoy or delete it is our Great American Choice our "lost ancestors helped create for us to do" Surnames Deets, Lowery, Bridges, Cowan

    2. Boy, is my face red! I got so excited when I read about the new database of employees of "Judge Parker's" court that I rushed to send it out to all who were intrested. After having taught history for 30 years you think that I would know that you should always check out a newspaper story, but I was a "dummie." The newspaper had the wrong address; the correct URL is: http://www.nps.gov/fosm/ctdbase/index.htm Sorry, gang! Promise to check out addresses before sending them on next time! Jan E.
