Hi Listmembers -- I keep getting bits and pieces with someone's help MAYBE it will all fit together. Question number 1: Does anyone know if there ever was a place called Casa in either Conway or Yell county? I know there is/was one in Perry county. Question number 2: Where can you get either blank copies of 1918 WWI draft registration cards or the questions asked on them. I found my Wayne Grant on one of them. However, his answer to one question does not make sense. Question number 3: I found Miss Iva Grant married to Mr Marshall Sharp in a Yell county marriage book. Is there anyone searching the Sharp's with a Marshall in the line? Also have her sister Miss Hazel Lee Grant married to Mr Olga H Boothe in a Yell county marriage book. Is there anyone searching the Boothe's with an Olga H in the line? Isn't Olga a female name? What might this name be? Question number 4: I never found a marriage record for Dora Adaline Edmonson to Joseph Wesley Carlock. I have ruled out the following counties: Yell, Pope, Perry, Logan, Conway, Van Buren & Falkner. I know where she was in 1900, Conway County, she was married to Carlock by 1910 in Yell county. The marriage should have been between 1906 - 1908. Any suggestions? Question number 5: I am still looking for an obit for James H Grant died June 4, 1926. Oscar Russell checked his book for the Arkansas Democrat/Gazette he was not listed. A very nice man at the Yell county library checked their records he was not there either. Where would be another place to look? Question number 6 (the last one): Would some kind soul check the death indexes for Hazel & Olga Boothe and Iva & Marshall Sharp. Thank you very much for reading my post. Sorry it was so long. Thank-you for any help I receive... yvonne ____________________________ Colorado Springs, Colorado reply to henson@rmi.net web page: http://www.rmi.net/~henson Names I am researching: BRENT(S), GRANT, EDMON(D)SON, HENSON, MCARTHUR ____________________________________________________________________ Get your own FREE, personal Netscape WebMail account today at http://webmail.netscape.com.

Could anyone tell me what records would be available for the Lawrence co area. My husbands Leach family came there between 1814-1820, I believe it may have been still territory at that time, how would I find records, at least one child was born there also. James Leach, wife and son Joseph b. 1814 there was a daughter Rebecca b. 1816 and another son James H 1818. So it is possible the later two were born there. thanks sharon
KARK Channel 4 is running a series this week on genealogy. It airs each night at 10pm. Last night was really good with anchorman Kent Bates featuring his family. Tracey

I totally agree with this person about the coal miners list. I didn't find anyone on it that I was looking for but I can certainly appreciate the time and effort put into making it! I received today the following photo-copy of a communication in response to my letter to John Ferguson, Robert L. Laman and Gov. Mike Huckabee regarding the History Commission move. This communication is a memorandum on Arkansas State Building Services stationery. It is not signed. I make no comment, just present this for the group's information. This is a retyping: P. J. Cowling "To: John Ferguson, Director, History Commission From: Robert L. Laman, Director Re: SBS/History Commission Meeting (5/2/00) This memorandum is in response to correspondence I have received regarding the prospective relocation of the History Commission. The correspondence contains misinformation with regards to the issues that were discussed on May 2, 2000, when a meeting between SBS (lessor) and the History Commission (lessee) representatives was held. It is my understanding the following occurred: 1. That due to security problems posed in #1 Capitol Mall and a move requiring the Complex to be closed on weekends, SBS initiated the meeting to explore and discuss what, if any, concerns the History Commission would have if they relocated to another location. 2. SBS made it quite clear that it did not have any identified building for any relocation and that the meeting was for exploration purposes only. To reiterate, SBS does not have any plans, nor does it intend to ask the History Commission to relocate anytime in the near future. The purpose of the meeting was to initiate dialog between the agencies regarding the matter. 3. The History Commission informed SBS of their special needs with regards the leased premises. SBS gave assurances to the History Commission that if any move occurred, the "special needs" of the History Commission would be ensured and a move would only occur if the premises were an improvement to the current location and satisfaction to the Commission. I look forward to meeting with you in person at the June 1, 2000 commission meeting. Cc: Governor Huckabee Richard Davies, Director, Parks and Tourism"
In the book Conway County-Our Land, Our Home, Our People; does anyone know anything about the wife of JOHN ANSON STOBAUGH who is on page 462? Her name was ELZORA HILL. In the 3rd paragraph from the last it says that JOHN and ELZORA opened their home to EDNA HILL after EDNA's mother passed away. Who was EDNA and who was her mother? Phyllis
