    1. Re: [AGS] platt map Newton co.
    2. Debra Blackard
    3. Copies of original plat maps and surveyor's field notes may be obtained from the State Lands Commissioner for approximately $5 per map. One would need to know the Township, and Range numbers to be able to obtain the correct plat. The field notes describe the vegetation and terrain and will mention roads, streams, and improvements to the land. The field notes are priced by the page for photocopying. Some surveys were made by 1820 but most were completed in the 1840s and 1850s. http://www.state.ar.us/land/land.html More recent ownership plats can be obtained from: Miller Publishing Services, Inc. 109 S. Kansas Marceline, MO 64658 816-376-2755 Debra Blackard -----Original Message----- From: colhalltower <colhalltower@tri-lakes.net> To: AGS-L@rootsweb.com <AGS-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Monday, May 22, 2000 11:58 AM Subject: [AGS] platt map Newton co. >could someone tell me where to write to get a Plat map of Newton co.? thanks. colhalltower@tri-lakes.net bill. >

Townie's father, Leonard Claude Craig, and her mother, Sarah Jane (Simmons) (Jones) Craig lived Moore AR (orginally Quincy) in Newton Co. They might have gotten married in a surrounding county, but I can't find proof. William Stone was married 5 times and my grandmother was the first. 1. [AGS] Nichols Cemetery in Franklin Co., AR
    2. Ginny Manning
    3. Recently I was able to spend a few days in Franklin Co., AR. Among the many things I wished to find was the location of the Nichols Cemetery. Was told it was on Wise Road, just outside of Ozark. I drove that road so many times and yet the only cemetery I found was the Bourland Cemetery. So would some kind soul please "draw me a picture" of where the Nichols Cemetery is. The staff at the county courthouse was very courteous and helped me locate many things I had been looking for. Unfortunately, was unable to knock down any part of my brick wall......am still searching for the parents and siblings of my paternal ggrandfather, Uriah Nichols, b. 1817 TN, who died in Franklin CO. in 1905, and is supposedly buried in the Nichols Cemetery. It has been said that Uriah Nichols, and his wife, Martha Conatser, b. 1812 TN [& children], traveled to AR from TN along with John Clifton Nichols, Lawson Nichols, James J. Nichols, Harvey Nichols, & Jesse Nichols, and their families, settling around the White Oak Township. If anyone can help me find out more about Uriah Nichols would appreciate it. Also want to mention that what little I saw of your state while there, was beautiful...... Virginia Nichols Manning Auburn, Washington ginman@connectcorp.net BOND, CHILCUTT, CONATSER, CONGER, GREENe, GRIGGS, GUERIN, HILL, JUSTICE, MANNING, NICHOLS, SHASTID/SHUSTIED, STOKES, ST. GEORGE, & WELTON.........so far.
