    1. [AGS] McFarlin and Jones of Benton County Arkansas
    2. Searching for info re McFarlin's and Jones of Benton County Arkansas. My father, Leo McFarlin was born in Round Prairie Township near Gentry in 1907, son of Fearless Marion McFarlin and Dora (Jones) McFarlin. His twin Leon died at birth...other siblings, Ray, Meryle (Mildred), Dolly. Fearless was born in Atchinson County Missouri in 1873. I cannot come up with any information re Fearless except that he was buried in the Gentry Cemetery. My hope is to discover the names of his parents. Fearless married Dora Jones of Benton County. Dora's siblings...Wesley D., Edna, Effie, Fred and possibly one more whose name I do not know. Also need names of my Grandmother Jones' parents. I know that my ggm lived with Wesley's family near Gentry and died around 1948. Fearless McFarlin was a farmer with property near Little Flint Creek as well as being a mason who helped construct many of the Gentry downtown buildings. Is there anyone out there who remembers or is related to these families. Would love to step back one more generation. Thanks in advance for any help. Leola Page

    1. [AGS] Name county when seeking township
    2. Ed Sanders
    3. A Township is a subdivision of a County. Many counties will have townships of the same name. For example, probably half the counties in Arkansas have a Jackson Township. If you inquire concerning a family in Jackson Township, we cannot help you until you supply the name of the county where YOUR Jackson Township is located. Best wishes, Ed

    1. [AGS] Death Records
    2. In reply to Betty's request for death records: There are 3 Arkansas Death Record Indexes compiled by Desmond Walls Allen. They are 1914-1923, 572 pgs., $49.50; 1924 - 1933, 611 pgs. $49.50; 1934 - 1940, 475 pgs, $49.50. These indexes are taken from the Health Dept. Records and show the name of the deceased, date of death and county. Knowing this information, you can then write to the Arkansas Dept. of Heath, Division of Vital Records, 4815 West Markham St., Slot 44, Little Rock, AR 72205-3867 for the actual death certificate. (You can write them for a form or get it from their website). You can order the indexes from Arkansas Research, P. O. Box 303, Conway, AR 72033 (website: http://biz.ipa.net/arkresearch). By the way I have no commercial interest in these publications. I just happened to have bought them and have found them very useful. Of course you can always ask for a look-up--quite a bit cheaper, but not as handy. Hope this helps you get your death certificate for Mary Rhodes and your other Ark. ancestors. Jan By the way I'm sure someone has told Tina by now that the best place to do research in Arkansas is the Ark. History Commission EXCEPT for Arkansas Census Records. Then, you're much better off to go to the Ark. State Library, also in Little Rock. You can do your census research MUCH faster and get a better copy at half the price, AND if you mess one up, they'll help you redo it until you get a good one at no additional charge--not so at the History Commission.

    3. I too am working on the Butler family line. The family of my husband, Billy Hugh Butler, lived in Nevada, Ouachita, and Union Counties in Arkansas. We are just beginning to work on this part of our family line, and therefore have not been able to get any further back than the following: Billy Hugh Butler born Oct 22, 1935, in Rosston, Nevada County, the son of Finis Henry Butler born Sep 25, 1897, in Chidester, Ouachita County, was the son of Thomas H. Butler and Elizabeth Jane (or June) Kirby Butler (birth dates unknown). Tom's second wife was Nevada (last name unknown). Tom was the son of Adam Butler (birth date and wife's name unknown). This information was provided to me by a distant cousin we just met via the internet. Her great-grandmother, Mary, was the sister of Tom. If you have any connection to or information on these people, I would be most interested.
