    1. [AGS] Re: AGS-D Digest V00 #231Getting SS Numbers
    2. If you go to ancestry.com and find the Social number you are looking for, there is a place to the left that you can click on and it generates a letter to print out and send. I have used it several times to get copies - works well and SS numbers are free to look up. No membership fees needed.

    1. [AGS] Fruen, Joseph C in AR
    2. Georgia Aeverman
    3. Hi folks, I am still searching for Joseph C Fruen/Fruin/Frain. Joseph was born about 1836 in England, possibly Kent. There is a Joseph FRUIN baptized at St John's in Thanet in 1836. Could be him. The age is right. On the 1860 census of Monroe Co AR, Joseph C FRAIN is listed as born in London England. Was he born there or had he moved there from another location prior to his move to USA. I find Joseph listed as FRUIN on some records and FRUEN on others. Joseph married Cordelia DICKERSON, a widow with three children in 1861 in Monroe Co AR. The children: Josephine, Evaline and Henry Calvin. They are still in Monroe in 1870, according to the census. By 1880, they had moved to Yell Co AR. They had one son in 1872 named William Edward. Evaline and Calvin had left home. Josephine was at home with her mother, though she had been married about 1874 to William Walt. My guess is that Josephine was there to comfort her mother, since Joseph died in 1880. Cordelia acquired land through federal land grants, as the widow of Joseph C Fruin. I have requested these records from the National Archives. They haven't arrived as yet. I am hoping there will be something in the records on Joseph, since it appears that he had begun the acquistion process. My greatest problem is finding info on parents and siblings. So far, nothing has surfaced on either. I don't have a clue how to look for Joseph in England, as I have no data on those parents. Any suggestions? Thanks Georgia Fruen Aeverman __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Kick off your party with Yahoo! Invites. http://invites.yahoo.com/

    2. Hi List members, I want to thank those of you who answered my help request. I did find the maps of the cemeteries that I was looking for on the usgenweb site under the county sections. Just go to the county sections and click on cemeteries for the name of the cemetery and then click on the name and you will be able to look at the maps of each location of the particular cemetery you are looking for. I found mine in Montgomery and Yell counties. Again, thank you all so much. Linda L.

    2. Hi Tina, I didn't have a form when I sent for my father's SS card copy, just wrote all the info I could and they sent me the copy. I didn't have the number so I wrote his full name last address, parents and wife's names and that's about it. You could call your local SS office and maybe you could get a form from them or they could tell you how to get one if you prefer. Charlotte A.

    3. Michael I wish, I could be of more help to you . You need to go to the library and ask for a book on genealogical that show the code for the soundex . You match the letters from the name to numbers to get the code. The first letter of the name is also used with the numbers. example: Davenport.....D151 With the number from your name that you are searching for you can cut right through all the census record and go straight to your names to search. Saves lots of time. Not all the records have soundex yet, but large genealogy library will have more. Sometimes they can be ordered. If I had the code with me I would send it to you. You might ask for somebody to send it to you. ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Juno now offers FREE Internet Access! 2. Hi everyone, I found a place with all the cemeteries in Arkansas and there are maps that we can zoom in on and locate exact location of a particular cemetery. However, since then I have completely forgotten where that was and really need to locate it again. Does anyone know of this site and how to get into it? I would really appreciate the assistance. I thought it was on the usgenweb site but cannot locate it for some reason. Thanks to all Linda L.
