3. Yes, thats Mt. Holly on Broadway in L.R. , it dates back to the 1830 period. It's the only Cemetery on Broadway that I know of. Broadway is not a really long street.

1. re: Marriage Dilemma
2. They may have actually gotten married and not had a common-law relationship. The question would remain as to whether there was a divorce from the prior marriage :-) While interviewing a cousin's widow about my great aunt, I asked her if she knew anything about the aunt having been married before and she said YES! and proceeded to tell me a hilarious story of learning this news as my aunt was attempting to file for a pension from her deceased husband's employer (union??). The interviewer asked if she had been married before and she said "Yes." Were you divorced? "No, we didn't get along so he went his way and I went my way and now I'm married to Mr. Church. That's the way people did back in those days." My cousin's widow said 'I nearly passed out' but they managed to talk their way out of this quagmire, possibly because she had been married to "Mr. Church" for about 50 years. This was funny to me but I am sure it wasn't funny when it happened. I am also suspicious that my grandmother did not divorce #2 before marrying #3, my grandfather but, oh, well! I do have records for these two marriages .... haven't checked for divorces, yet, but I do believe #2 was still living when she married grandpa. Maybe not. As my aunt said, "that's how we did things back then!" M. Gillette

1. [AGS] Charles W. Price
2. Melba Bishop
3. It has been a while since I asked for help from the list so here I go again. I am seeking information about Charles W. Price born about 1814 in GA but I don't know where in GA. He must have married in GA because he had two children William Walter Price born October 4, 1837 in GA and Emily E. Price born about 1839 in GA. I do not know the name of their mother. Charles W. Price married Mary A. Winningham in Randolph County ARK on July 20, 1845. She must have been a widow because on the 1850 Census of Greene County ARK they have his two children living with them along with children Henry Lee Winningham born ARK about 1837 , William C. Winningham born ARK about 1836. Charles W. Price and Mary Winningham had at least two children of their own Mitchell Price born about 1846 and Sulinda or Lucinda (the census was illegible) born in ARK about 1849. Charles Price's son William Walter Price is my great grandfather. Any help at all or ssuggestions would be appreciated. Melba Bishop

1. [AGS] White Oak Cemetery, Sebastian Co.
2. Douglas H. Jones
3. Greetings: I'm trying to obtain a phone number or address to contact White Oak Cemetery in Sebastian County, Arkansas. A Certificate of Death from the Arkansas Department of Health Division of Vital Records for my grandaunt shows that she died January 24, 1979 and was buried in White Oak Cemetery in Sebastian County, Arkansas. McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood, Arkansas handled the arrangements. I contacted McConnel Funeral Home. They had the record of her burial, but no one at the funeral home knew where the cemetery was located. I also contacted the Cemetery Board of Arkansas. They told me they only have information pertaining to perpetual care cemteries. Apparently White Oak Cemetery is not a perpetual care cemetery. Any suggestions as to how I can locate White Oak Cemetery would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Doug Jones

1. [AGS] Civil War Claims
2. Some researchers on this list may not be aware that there is a good source to look up Civil War Claims. Many claims were filed after the war for damages and confiscated property. One source is the Southern Claims Commission. Dr. Gary B. Mills wrote an excellent index to filed claims. It is SOUTHERN LOYALISTS IN THE CIVIL WAR: THE SOUTHERN CLAIMS COMMISSION. The book gives instructions for ordering copies of files. Loyalty had to be proven and depositions were taken. It is available in most libraries, or you can go to the nara site and email a request. Committee on War Claims (1873-1946) . Another source may be the Comission on Captured and Abandoned Property. More info is on the nara site further down the page. Look for the link to RG 56. I recently sent for a claim file on my ggg grandmother. In one of the depostions she gave, she mentioned a nephew by name and residence. Knowing her relation to the nephew told me who her parents were. This is the link I have been looking for since I started researching. This can sometimes be a long process to find a claim file, but it is definately worth the effort. Becky Rhea
