I have seen a similar book in Clay County. I would not go ASKING for this book because they may not let you see it. We came upon it accidently while looking for another book, silently copied the name and page number on each page, and put the book back. I found my great grandfather had been committed! I copied that whole page by hand. We plan to go back and copy all the info on each page. Unfortunately it did not state where these people were sent for treatment. We did notice that some people were committed more than once. Fortunately, my great grandfather responded to treatment and was not readmitted. I know he was released at some point. Naturally, no one in the family talks about this event at all. So if anyone knows where these people were sent for treatment I would love to know. Thanks. Dorothy
Would you happen to know if the book you are referring to, would have been standard in all Arkansas Counties?? I have county(Pope) where person was living when the committment to state hospital occurred, and would like more information on the process, if it might be available. There are several family stories floating around, and I would be interested in finding the true events. Jettie Henley Parrish
Do you know where she was living when she was committed? I have the index to an insanity court book in Craighead County, but the only Henry in it is Miss Emma Henry. I don't have the date, but I think your time frame fits in it. I would have to go back to the court house to get the rest of the entry. Dorothy
Looking for any mental hospital that would have been in operation in the 1925-1932 time frame. I have a great aunt that was committed and I cannot find any record of her. Her name was Asineth Henry, she was committed by her brother Clebern. Any help would be appreciated Verna Eichhorn
Would someone please look up the 1920 census for FERDINAND (F.D.) BROCKINGTON. Was born 1916 in Morrilton, Conway Co., Ark. Thanks, Della Smith

Is there anyone on the list who has the 1860 and 1870 Hot Spring county census? I am looking for William H. Easley in Hot Spring County. I think his wife will be Mary Pollinia Catherine. On the 1850 census she is with her parents and is Catherine on that record. There were two other William H. Easleys in Clark County, but I think my William H. should be in Hot Spring County. Thank you, Wanda
What will the neighbors say!!! Van Buren Press Crawford County, Arkansas August 14, 1909 DOUBLE ELOPEMENT FAILS Sisters Taken From Train by Officers and Returned to Camden- Pine Bluff- After eloping from their home at Camden with Jake Butler, a bartender, and John McManus, his companion, who has a wife and three children living at Thornton, this state, and after driving nearly 100 miles in a surrey, Misses Della and Minne Levy, sisters, prominent in Camden, were taken from the north-bound Cotton Belt train by officers directed by telephone to make the arrest. Miss Della is 21 years old and Miss Minnie is 19. The girls' trunks had been sent in advance and a cross country drive proved to be a chase with pursuers who kept so close on the trail that is was impossible to obtain a license either at Fordyce or Thornton, where their coming had been announced by telephone. The young ladies were then put aboard a train for Fair Oaks, where they were to be joined by their companions later, and were en route to that place when invited by detectives to leave the train. I am trying to find out about any reunions for Jackson, Godwin, Mcgrew or Robbins that may be going on in Arkansas this summer. I know Jacksons use to have one the first of Aug in and around hot springs. Any info would be appreciated. You can email me at [email protected] Thanks, Bobbie
List, Is there a township Water Creek in Howard County? If so where is the location. Thanks much. Jackie
My Great great grandfather lived in Little Rock at "the bottom of Cantrell Hill." His name was Wendelin Harviel and he owned a greenhouse in the Hanger Hill area near McArthur Park and worked as a gardener. According to family tradition. According to an 1923 newspaper article they settled in Pocahontas, AR after arriving in 1876. They lost a child 14 days after that and moved shortly thereafter to Little Rock where they lived ever since, except for a 3 or 4 mos in North Little Rock where 5 more children live. In 1923 they lived at 2510 West 6th Street and he worked as a Florist. Both him and his wife died during the 20's and are buried in the Calvary Cemetery in Little Rock. I have a photograph of him working in front of a house with columns but I do not believe it is his home. My question is does anyone know what township/enumeration district the bottom of Cantrell Hill, Hanger Hill or West 6th St. would have been in? I am trying to locate him on the 1880 - 1920 censuses. I have not been able to locate him on any soundex because each time his name is spelled it changes - for example the article spelled his name Haweil. It has been anything from Harviel to Howell, and many things inbetween, so I'll have to go page by page through Pulaski County - not a pleasing idea but no other choice. Thanks for any help, Laurie

Thanks Mary, we have a center here in Moreno Valley, Ca.
You can order WWI Draft Registrations through your local Family History Center operated by the Latter Day Saints. Though the registrations are not indexed, they are in alphabetical order by the first letter of the last name.
Mr. Baker and all, Ancestry.com has a WWI Civilian Draft Registrations index though it has not been completed. I believe this is one of their free databases. From Ancestry.com "NOTE: This database, although providing information on over 5% of all men registered, represents approximately 13% of all counties nationwide. Researchers will find complete coverage of Alaska, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Mississippi, and Nevada and a good representation from Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, New York City, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Vermont." Information on this database and the search function is available at: http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/inddbs/3172.htm If you cannot find the name(s) you are looking for I would still suggest a trip to the History Commission just to double check. And of course to get copies if needed. COUNCE [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, May 04, 2002 2:26 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [AGS] Information request I am looking for information about my great-grandfather, A. C. Armstrong, a veteran of the Civil War. I would like to know what the particulars are for use of the AGS information and website, and how to proceed with finding information. A. C. Armstrong was supposedly a member of Company A, 9th Arkansas Infantry. I have been unable to find any information on that unit, its home location, roster, or areas of action. He was wounded at Shiloh. I know very little else. Please let me know how to proceed with finding information from Arkansas records. Thank you. You can see W. W. I draft registration records here at the History Commission in Little Rock. Remember it only lists men between the ages of 17 and 45. I have seen no copies of indexes to these records on the internet. Russell P. I'm trying to locate the death of my g-g-g relative in Lee County Arkansas around 1904. The state did not require death records to be taken until 1914. I cannot seem to get an answer from the county court house about their local records. If someone could help me I'm looking for a Lafayette (Fate/Fayette) Westbrook, black male, from GA who might have died in Lee Co. in 1904. I think his was born around 1852. Thanks in advance.
