    3. Van Buren Press Crawford County, Arkansas September 28, 1895 The last spike was driven in the Choctaw, Oklahoma and Gulf Road Wednesday, connecting South McAlester and Oklahoma City. The road is now complete from Wister, Indian Territory, to El Reno, Oklahoma, a distance of 240 miles. The first through train was a coal train. Double daily passenger trains will be put on October 15th, at which time a grand excursion will be run from Fort Smith, Arkansas to Oklahoma City. We learn that the line road, running a few miles from the Western boundary of Washington County, is progressing rapidly. One of the working parties is laying track south of Siloam Springs and thirty miles are expected to be ready by October 1st. That will complete the road to Patterson Gap, Indian Territory, nad trains will run regularly to that point. By January 1st the road is expected to be completed to the Arkansas River.- Fayetteville Sentinel. Fran Alverson Warren e-mail: [email protected] 479-369-2703 http://www.crawfordcountyarkansas.net/

It was sometime after 1900. Believe it to be around 1906 or 07. They had a daughter by the name of Hattie or Hettie Eunice Johnson and a daughter by the name of Faye. 3. The Arkansas Genealogical Society and other publishers have published indexes to Arkansas death records from 1914 - 1950. You might find a copy of these indexes in your local library. If no, you can purchase copies on microfiche from the Arkansas Genealogical Society, P. O. Box 908, Hot Springs, AR 71902. Look for him on this index. You can also try locating him on the 1930 Arkansas census. If you find the county of residence, then you can look through cemetery records for that county. Russell P. My Crowder's have really reached a brick wall and I'm grasping at straws. My grandfather, Albert Tucker Crowder, died 11/14/1930. At that time, he had a brother named Wesley alive somewhere in AR. Wesley was born about 1852 maybe in TN or MS. Where can I look for a death certificate after 1930? I don't know Wesley's other name but I am sure he had one and was probably called by both names as my Crowder's usually used both names. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Wesley had a wife and family as I have a picture of them but no names are on there except his. 2. Hello, I have just learned today that my grandfather was working in the oil fields around 1902 or so. Was there some sort of boom trend for Arkansas men to go there for work back then? My aunt was unable to tell me where he went or any of the particulars as she was not born untill1929. All she knew that my grandfather was in his 20s then, he was born in 1883. Thank you, Pat

    3. Here are some sources you can check for this man and his family: 1) U. S. Census records beginning in 1900. Bishop should be living with his parents in 1900. Census records are now available through 1930 for AR 2) obtain a death certificate for Bishop. It should have some or all of his birth information on it. 3) get an obit for him. Did he died in Little Rock? If so there were two daily newspapers in L. R. that might have an obit. Good much with your research. Russell P.
