    3. The images are there just as they are on microfilm and just as hard to read in many cases. A "plug in" is available via download to aid in viewing and manipulation of the census images. 1. [AGS] Land Question
    2. Greetings All! Well, I *think* (pure speculation) I know the conditions of my Green ancestor's arrival into Arkansas. They came from S. Carolina. There are 2 William H. Greens there that owned slaves, one from York County that owned the most, the other just a couple. I 'think' when William H. Green purchased his land in 1860 it was located in Desha County, no name had been given (no township) at the time of purchase. He sent some of his slaves to cultivate it for him. I had given the approx. date of my family's arrival into Arkansas around the year 1857-58, based upon the ages of the children born in S. Carolina..I'm now rethinking that situation. At the time (1866) when they were employed by W. H. Green according to the Freedman's Bureau Records, when asked their ages, this was probably the first time this question was posed to them, especially seeing how two of the sisters were both the same age at the time (8), and in 1870 one was still 8 and the other was 17. W. H. Green stated on the contract that he lived in Drew County..there was no W. H. Green in Drew County, that may have been where he stayed while he was purchasing and taking care of business, he was never counted on the Federal Census, or the Slave Census. He was also listed as paying taxes on slaves in 1860 in Arkansas. Question..did one have to state they lived in Arkansas to purchase land in that time? I found another group of people 'The Alexander's' who purchased land all around Mr. Green. Can't find but one of them, but, they owned a lot of land. I wonder who took care of my family as slaves during that time?? I wonder if a overseer was the only person in charge?? Does anybody know if there is a list of overseer's for 1860? Questions..Questions..Questions.. Thanks All, Happy Sunday! Dena.

    1. [AGS] Searching for information on Jacob David Fellows
    2. Wanda Henderson
    3. I am looking for any information on the Jacob David Fellows Family. They lived in Garland, Hempstead, Arkansas around 1880. His wife name was Eliza and he had several children. Their names were, Caroline, William, Jno, Rose and a grand daughter, Mary Scott. I believe Jacob moved to Oklahoma in the late 1880's with several of his children. I am looking for information on a Jacob David (Dave) Fellows, Jr., that was married to a Belle Wade. Her name could have been Isabelle. She was my great-great aunt. I cannot find any information on her after 1912. And that information was from a city directory from Guthrie, Logan Co., Oklahoma. I believe, they might have moved back to Arkansas. Any help or suggestions to find out more about this family would be greatly appreciated. Their ethnicity is of the Black race. Belle was of multiethnic. She was born in Tenn. Thank you.

    1. [AGS] Huge Thank-You
    2. Peace and Blessings to you all..As a lot of you know, I have been searching for my 'GREEN' family that seems like relocated from Drew County, AR. to Bradley County, AR. sometimes between 1866-70. My family was African American and former slaves. They came from S. Carolina I would estimate the year to have been sometimes between 1857-58 according to the ages of the children born to my GGG Grandmother, Nannie. The family consisted of mother Nannie, cousin Perry and Nannie's children, Easter (my GG Grandmother), Mike (Michelle's GG Grandfather and only son of record), Sallie who married a man by the name of Alf(red) Falls, and Pricilla (AKA Puss). I was under the impression for so long that the last enslavers of my family was a man by the name of William HH Green, who resided (1850) in Smith Township, Bradley County. You guys don't know how *long* I have been concentrating on this man, but, William Green is a common name, even Easter had a son by that name. With more thoughtful thinking, and the help of the wonderful people on Bradley County and the AGS mailing list, I have turned my search in another direction, and it seems for the better. A lot of the documents that I have obtained over the past 3 years, and the information that I have received from these two mailing lists, had finally come together. Thank you! Slave research is really hard. If you don't know the last enslaver...you are messed up!! Don't get me wrong, it can be done, but it just takes more time. You find yourself having to research the enslaver a little more than your own family because 99% of the slaves didn't write or keep records, they just lived from day to day..trying to survive. To so many of you, I want to name, but this letter is long enough, you know who you are, and on behalf of the Ancestors and myself....A HUGE THANK-YOU!! for being there, and caring..this is what family is all about!! PS: I'm still not there, and trust me...you will be the first to know, but I just had to write this because of the closeness that I have felt over these past couple of days with you all. The ancestors are working and the Genies are on the move! Mus tek cyear a de root fal heal de tree. 2. JUDITH A. SMITH
    3. My brick wall is Hugh Smith and Ellender Johnston Smith, there were known to be in Polk County, MO at the time of the 1850 Federal census. Nothing is known about either of them until a church record that Ellender Smith was "removed" from a church near Holland, Arkansas. I believe the name of the county is either Lonoke or Faulkner, about 1880. They may have had one known child: James F. Smith born about 1850, and two children: Martha I. Smith and John Smith, from a previous marriage of Hugh Smith to a Martha Looney. I will deeply appreciate any and all help in finding this long lost family. Judy Smith/Colorado
