RE: Adrian Family. I am a direct decendent of: John David Adrian who came to America as a youth from Germany settling in York County, SC. He married Rachel Fleming daughter of Robert and Pheorba Fleming of York and formerly of Pennsylvania. He is first found in 1768 in NC and in 1778 in York, SC. They had a family of five boys and three girls: 1)John German; 2)Robert DeKalb; 3)Fleming Fowler; 4) David Wilber and 5) William Harvey. The girls were: 1)Elizabeth (Wm) McDonald; 2) Mary (Wm) Davidson; 3)Arlexia (Frederick) Gowder. My lines flows from William Harvey Adrian and Elizabeth Clemintin as follows: William Harvey Adrian, born Jan. 12, 1795 in York County, SC and died April 9, 1871 in Wood County, Texas who married Elizabeth Clementin in Cherokee County, Alabama and had son: Joseph David Adrian, born June 27, 1835 in SC and died Sept.28, 1905 in Cherokee County, Alabama and who married (1)Unknown and (2nd) Lizzie Permelia Wood and had son: Norman Watson Adrian, b. Dec. 08, 1881 in Cherokee County, Alabama and died April 22, 1950 at same location. Other decendents with birthdates are also available. For additional information on this line please refer to "The Heritage of Cherokee County, Alabama" published by Heritage Publishing Consultants, Inc. P.O. Box 67, Clanton, AL. 35046, phone 1-800-568-1611. These books are published on numerous counties in the southeast USA and contain biographies, stories, area information and local portraits of people of the county. Usually they are compliled by a "Heritage Committee" associated with individual libraries. These committee's put out notices and compile responses on individual families who wish to have their names and families published. They also list the person contributing the information with their address. These are a great source of genealogy data and most are either backed up with original sources (like census) or by a known family member. I hope this information will be helpful to those Adrians who are looking just as it was for me.
