Now we know what the problem was...what a shame. If your grandmother has a niece, she must be from your grandfather's side? My Oma also has a niece named Marion in Georgia, last I heard. I never knew my dad's grandparents' names...Raphael (interesting female name) and possibly Adolph. That one would make sense. My mother (who is Eddie's 2nd wife) is Ruth. His first wife's name was Elinor. Her nickname was "E", which must be what you are remembering with Eve....you have a good memory! When you would go to Flushing to visit, was German or English spoken in the house? My dad was fluent in speaking, but I don't think so much in reading or writing. Are you moving close to where you are now? Sounds like it's been a while since you've seen your Oma's things that are packed up...maybe you'll come across some forgotten treasures.
