Mine landed in Golden, Wood Co., TX near Mineola then to Denison to work on the KATY railroad. My GG Grandfather was James Fowler (David Wilbur, John David) Adrian. I was told as a child that my grandfathers "people" went on the trail of tears and ended up marrying Cherokee women. Actually it was 2 brothers, both of which married while enroute to Oklahoma(?) and while the one went on to texas with his new bride, the other came back to the Alabama/Georgia region. I live in Alabama but have traveled through a town in Texas called Adrian. It wasn't intentional, but I was lost in Texas and just happened upon the town... Makes me wonder though : ) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The Adrian surname apparently is as old as dirt and has been spread about and used almost everywhere. So how can we possibly hope to connect to any form of the past that relates to us based soley on a name? I doubt we can. Honestly, am I descended from Englishmen, Germans, Russians, Italians, Greeks or more likely someone who simply liked or needed a name and chose it for themselves? I think I'm gonna change my name to Smith or Jones. Keep it simple... : ) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Many from Westphalia Germany settled there and the 1880 census I think shows that your Joseph's parents were from that area of Prussia. As she told you, my fatehr passed away 7 years ago. I was so amazed to hear that we have other relatives still around. Would love to talk to you sometime about my father and your side of the family. I actually went by my oma and opas old neighborhood in Longboat key about a year ago and saw an old neighbor of theirs (racoon lady)who still lived there. She of course remembered my oma - Elizabeth very fondly. Regards, Steve Adrian Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
