Author: MyFamilyTree123 Surnames: Adrian, Kohlbeck, Goetzer, Suesa, Kuhn Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.adrian/4.57.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, Your Great-grandfather was the brother of my 2nd great-grandfather Frederich Adrian. Their father's name was Christian Adrian, their mother was listed as Maria Adrian on the ship's manifest, and on Frederich's death certificate as Maria Von Fenderland. I searched in vain for years for that surname or anything like it . I finally was told by a fellow researcher who spoke and read German that Von Fenderland wasn't a surname. It means "from the fatherland." So all I know about her is that her name was Maria, (called Mary in census records), and that once they emigrated from Germany, they lived the rest of their lives and died in Pittston, Pa. Henry and Frederich had another brother, Christian. He and Frederich were members of their company's band in the Civil War. Christian served twice, both times in the band, but with another company. They also had a sister Caroline, born 1839 in Hesse Daarmstadt. I've been researching this line for 30 years. You may already know all this, but If there's anything more you'd like to know about the family, let me know. I have most of the census records for your Henry and Rosina's family, christening records and some World War 1 draft cards for some of the family men. 3. Hi Beatye,  It's good to hear from you again! It's been a good while since I've done any genealogy. Been very busy with the horses, dogs, cat and the farm. If I remember correctly, your William Adrian (son of Henry and Rosina Schmaltz?) married Inez Looney. Do I have that right?  I haven't come across anything new on your line, but I still have the census records and hard copies of christening records for some of Henry Adrian's family, if I can find them. Is there any particular information you're looking for? keep in touch. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: BPBARNETT464 Surnames: Adrian, Ellis, Hanna, Riddle Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.adrian/86.96/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I would like to respond to the Adrian thread and the Adrians of GA and AL thread. I, too, am descended from Fleming Fowler Adrian and Mary McDonald but through their daughter Mary Olivia Adrian (b. 1818) and then her son John Adrian Hanna, born in 1842. Mary Olivia married John Sevier Hanna on 28 Jan 1836 in Calhoun Co., Alabama. By the 1850 census John S Hanna had married Jane Riddle but I have been unable to find any information as to when or where Mary Olivia died. Among Hanna researchers there seems to be an issue as to which of the children are Mary Olivia's and which are Jane Riddle's. John Adrian Hanna was born in 1842 and given his middle name it is a fair assumption that he was Mary Olivia's child. And if that is the case his sibs born before him must also have been Mary Olivia's children. My research shows three children born before John Adrian; Alexander, Mary J and Elizabeth S. The Hanna family, including John Adrian Hanna, moved west to Texas and was living in Bosque County by 1860. The Ellis family was with them in Bosque County. (An! other indication of the affiliation between the Hanna and Adrian families.) I would very much appreciate any information people might have on Mary Olivia Adrian, especially the date of her death and where she might be buried. I am also fascinated by the stories of the Trail of Tears and the Adrian family's involvement in that event and possible Adrian marriages to Cherokee women. I would love to hear more. It has long been assumed that there was some Cherokee blood in our family but the sources have never been documented. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
