Yes, Andrea, you're on the list. You haven't received any postings because the list has been very quiet recently. How about it? Can we get a rundown of everyone's lines and current searches to get things moving? There are several new people on the list as well, so it's worth querying even if you've posted before. I found a Joseph Adrian listed as a passenger on the ship SS Herder in 1879. His occupation was listed as butcher. My Otto was a butcher too. Could be a family thing. Does anyone know anything about this Joseph Adrian. He was 21 at the time he came to New York. Andrea [email protected] Tucker,Post,Adrian~VanEtten,Jones~Noice,Olmstead Whitman,Miller,Stilwell

I have sent this before but I think no one knows anything. I will try again. My G. Grandfather was Otto Adrian. I know he married Margaretha Walter in 1890 in Linn Co., Or. They had a son Walter H. Adrian. He was called Heinie( maybe short for Heinrich?). I am sorry that is all I know about him. I know Margaretha read a german bible. Where he emmigrated from or to I have no idea. I know it isn't much. Thanks. Andrea [email protected] Tucker,Post,Adrian~VanEtten,Jones~Noice,Olmstead Whitman,Miller,Stilwell

Just thought everyone would like to check out... A new searchable site with old photographs & documents! Yearbook look-ups! http://karinaskorner.com
Please help. Does anyone have a Otto Adrian m. Margaretha Walter in their family trees? I can find nothing on these people. They were married in Linn. Or 1890. They were possibly from Neb or MI. [email protected] Tucker,Post,Adrian~VanEtten,Jones~Noice,Olmstead Whitman,Miller,Stilwell
I am seeking any information on Otto Adrian. He married Margaret or Margaretha Walters Dec,1889 in Linn, Oregon. They had child Walter Heinie Adrian. He married Wilma Post, daughter of Walter Post and Effie Mae Tucker. Locations would be Linn County Oregon and Lane County Oregon, Springfield/Vida area. Andrea [email protected]
A happy holiday season and wonderful New Year to everyone on the Adrian list! Just wanted to post the line I'm researching one more time for 1999. Anyone else want to do the same with theirs? Illinois now has their marriage index on-line for 1763-1900, and it includes Book, Volume and License numbers for requesting records. If you think you may have any lines in this state, it's worth checking out. There were quite a few ADRIAN's (and related spellings) that showed up in the search for me, and only a handful that I can pin to my husband's Illinois family. The rest must belong to someone! http://www2.sos.state.il.us/cgi-bin/marriage I got the best results by typing just "Adr" into the box...first for grooms and then for brides. This is a response to Bruce who's looking for Van Pomeroy ADRIAN in Texas. I can't remember whether or not you have burial information on him, so I'll pass this along in case. These are burials from Fairview Cemetery in Grayson County. At last! ADRIAN's now have a resource page and GenConnect Boards at Rootsweb. You'll find our page at: http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/a/d/ADRIAN/ The page itself brings together several searches available through Rootsweb that are worth a look for any of your surnames. At the bottom of the page, you'll find 7 GenConnect boards that give you a place to post: Queries, Bible Records, Bios, Deeds, Obits, Pensions and Wills. If you have any of these records or documents you've transcribed, this is an excellent place to share them and possibly find others connecting to your line. While queries are restricted to the query board, you can be a little creative with the others. For instance, tombstone transcriptions are probably perfectly appropriate for the "Obits" board, and "Wills" would be a good place to post intestate records too. Also try the search directly below the boards. You'll be able to see ADRIAN mentions from other GenConnect surname or location-based boards as well. Hope to see everyone on the boards too! While it's on my mind from my last e-mail, let me share part of my husband's line one more time. See that big gap with no kids between 1888 and 1896? And another between 1896 and 1900? Little gaps in between. Surely there were more kids in this clan. We know that Frank Lemuel Adrian had a brother Byron -- the aunts remember him. I haven't found him anywhere, but noted this George Byron in the WWI Draft Registrations as well. He registered in Decatur, IL. I'm not putting him in my official chart yet, but wanted to include it here in case the given-name George means anything to anyone. Jodi [email protected]
While I had a few minutes to do some on-line searches for myself, I found these few very-random Adrian mentions that may mean something to someone else. http://www.tarleton.edu/~kjones/lawsbrig.html The 4th Alabama Volunteer Infantry Regiment Co. John was enrolled in Company B, by Colonel Mosby on November 20, 1863, in Faquier County. After the war, he resided in Brick Haven, Virginia, until he was admitted on January 15th, 1915 to the Robert E. Lee Camp Soldier's Home. John died on March 27th, 1918, and is buried in the Union Cemetery, Leesburg, Virginia. WWI Civilian Draft Registrations John Willard Adrian, born 19 Mar 1889, Mattoon IL, Registered in Saint Louis City, MO (By the way, it will take some unconvincing for me to think this isn't part of my husband's family. His g grandfather was James Willard Adrian, b. 1858 in OH, d. 1933 in Mattoon, Coles Cty. IL. The date even fits being one of John Willard's sons, and there's one of many gaps in that year for other kids being born. But the family has never heard of him, and this is the first I've run across the name. I shouldn't make assumptions.) Independence County, AK, Marriages Jan. 15, 1848, Robert N. Adrian to Susan A. I'll be on a one-week vacation in August (the one where I'll be out in Illinois and hope to have a chance for local ADRIAN research on my husband's line!), and am looking for a volunteer to administrate this list while I'm gone. The 30-or-so of us are pretty quiet, so there's just not much to do. Once in awhile, someone tries to subscribe or post a message that needs a little help, but Rootsweb makes it very easy and I would pass along full instructions. I'd rather the stand-in be someone with ties to the name than a random volunteer. Please send me a private e-mail if you can help out. And thanks! Jodi Reifsnyder Adrian [email protected]
We're all pretty quiet on the list these days. Is there anything new in anyone's research to report? How about just reposting your lines for those new on the list (I see a few out there)? There is nothing new on my husband's OH>IL lines, but I will be making a trip next month to visit family and do a little in-person searching. Please keep your fingers crossed for me to find something important! Also, I hope that our ADRIAN GenConnect boards will be up and running soon. Rootsweb created boards for every surname that already had a list while, at the same time, adding 10,000 new surnames. I've been told we were missed because the boards were in development already when our list was created. I believe July 7 is the date, but they're backed up in creating these, so I can't promise anything. Keep a lookout at: http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/a.html The boards will provide another place to post queries as well as homes for storing and sharing bios, wills, obituaries, deeds and more relating to the name. Plus, the page which leads you there will bring together several searches into one spot. Definitely something worth looking forward to. Jodi Reifsnyder Adrian [email protected]
Hello again all. Someone asked me a few days ago about why ADRIAN isn't on the new Rootsweb "Surname Resources" pages: http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/a.html Rootsweb started these pages by choosing the 5,000 most-requested names on the Rootsweb Surname List. They say that the next 5,000 will follow...and, eventually, at least every name that already has a surname list established. Guess we don't quite rate in the top group, but we'll get there. I am looking forward to this addition. As they're adding names, the organization is also adding GenConnect boards for each -- something that currently has to be added by a volunteer and contributor. The boards will give us someplace new to post queries as well as a place to put transcripts of wills, deeds, biographies and more. Yet one more good place to share resources. I'll pass on the word as soon as I see we're added, and please do the same if you beat me to finding it. Jodi
Welcome, Brian. I don't believe I've ever run into the name Rowland ADRIAN, and I can't find a Gloster in Ohio either (after quite awhile searching various maps). Maybe the Marion County Historical Society could help if you haven't tried them already: http://home1.gte.net/mchist/ How horrible to feel like you're at a brickwall when you've only reached back to your grandfather! I'm excited, though, to see another Adrian looking in both Ohio and Illinois. My husband's family was from Illinois, and somewhere in Ohio before that. I have a James Willard ADRIAN (1858-1933) married to Zara Ellen HOUGHTON. They raised their children in Mattoon, Coles County, IL. According to his death certificate, James was born in Cleveland, OH, son of John ADRIAN and Elizabeth TIPTON. However, there's no sign of this family in Cuyahoga County. There was a John with wife Elizabeth and son James W. that almost match the dates who were way down in Conshocton County. Perhaps, we'll at least run into each other's names along the search and be able to share. Jodi
Hello to all: As you can guess my last name is Adrian. And first name: Brian During a search on Rootsweb, I found a post by "jodir" Jodi Reifsnyder Adrian, and then saw she was active in GenForum. That's how I found out about this list. So Thank you, Jodi. I haven't been doing this long, but I can already see you hit a lot of brick walls. I'm searching for information on my Grand Father Rowland Whitcomb Adrian. I have searched Ancestry.com and found one record for him. WW1 Civilian Draft Registrations DOB April 12, 1895 Birth Place Gloster, OH; Marion County. This was good news, but after searching and looking over maps the Town of Gloster has no listing. At first I thought it was a mistake maybe the town name was Glouster, but the counties are different. So now the brick wall starts. Rowland Adrian married Edith Parsons or (Samualson) in Rockford, Ill They had three children, Big Ace ( the only name I know), Mickey, and Virgil. Rowland Adrian died in the 1950's in Rockford, Ill. They lived on Harlem Road. Any suggestions on how to find out more would be greatly appreciated. Is there anyway of getting a copy of the WW1 Civilian Draft Registration form? Thanks for any help. Brian Adrian
