    1. Heinrich & Herman ADRIAN, Prussia>US
    2. Jodi
    3. Hello everyone. I'm forwarding this information to the ADRIAN list on behalf of Carol Spielman. She's subscribed but is having some beginner's trouble getting the knack of the list and the computer in general, and she seems to have a persnickety machine anyway. So if you have any comments or can help her, please respond both to the list and to Carol directly at [email protected] I know she'll appreciate it. I'm summarizing several e-mails, so correct me if I get anything wrong, Carol! Heinrich ADRIAN was born 1815 in Muhle, W. Prussia and died 1895 in Neustadt, West Prussia. He married 8/6/1843 in Bordzichowa to Louise FRIEDEL (born 1816 in Ossowo Prussia, daughter of Peter Schmonke and Wilhelmine Friedel). Heinrich's occupation was eisenhammerschmiedegeselle (blacksmith), supposedly for Kaiser Wilhelm. The family was Mennonite though they later became Lutherans and Evangelicals. Children of Heinrich and Louise were: -Herman August Adrian, born 3 Jan. 1846 in Mroze, died 24 Sept. 1929 in Chicago, Ill. married Bertha Kaminske 1 Sept, 1875 -Amelia Ernstine Adrian -Otto Ferdinand Adrian -Lina Thurand -Ella Brunlinger -Julius Wilhelm Adrian (died Feb. 1906 in Adelaide, Australia) Carol's great grandfather Herman and his wife, Bertha Kaminske, came to the U.S. in or before 1880 where they show up on the census in Chicago. According to the census, they had 9 children but all had died except for Carol's grandmother and her sister. She doesn't know how many came to America. I'll just cut and paste this part of Carol's mail with some questions: "The question remains, where were my great grandparents married, were the children born here or in Prussia , if in Prussia, did any of them make it to the states? Does the name Kraft mean anything to you? These were cousins of my grandmother's and on one of the ships manifests, I saw the Prokraft family traveled not only with their children to the states but they had a few of the Adrian children with them." Again, if you want to reply, please do so to both the list and to Carol directly. Thanks. Jodi Reifsnyder Adrian ADRIAN List Admin.

Most on the list probably know about the WWI Civilian Draft registrations, but here's a Rootsweb link for those who don't: http://userdb.rootsweb.com/ww1/draft/index.html An ADRIAN search brings 423 results. Registrations can be useful for checking a birth date, getting a middle name or initial, or just spotting where someone was at that time. Jodi Reifsnyder Adrian

    1. ADRIAN Query Board Linked Here
    2. Jodi
    3. Rootsweb created the option for surname list administrators and GenConnect Board administrators to link the two together. If what I just did worked, any messages posted on the ADRIAN query board at http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/surnames/a/d/ADRIAN/queries should automatically come to this list as well. It means that we won't have to check the boards if we're already subscribed here. However, the only way I can know if what I did worked is if someone posts a query on the board. Sure...I could do a "test" message, but why waste the space when most of us have a query to send anyway? Anyone...please give it a try. If it doesn't work, I'll fix it; if it does, we all have another time-saver. I'll also connect the other ADRIAN boards once I know that I did it right on this one. Thanks. 2. Bonnie & Jeff Treon
    3. Hi. Our family now spells our name as TREON but when our ancestors came from France it was DRION and TRION and we have an AWOL ancestor named CHRISTIAN DRION who was said to be on the DUKE OF WIRTEMBURG in the 1750s to PHILA and when the ship's roster was transcribed, one researcher listed him as CHRISTIAN DRION and one listed him as CHRISTIAN ADRIAN. It has been assumed that he migrated to MD from historical documents and later some of his line apparently went to MIAMISBURG OHIO where his existence is well documented in our family histories from the 1800s. Does anyone have info on the particular CHRISTIAN ADRIAN/DRIAN/DRION who came on that particular ship. We also have a PHILIP TRION who married a PAULUS in MD in the 1700's and another TRION marrying another PAULUS in OH a little later. Would LOVE any info on CHRISIAN ADRIAN or DRION from that ship. Was he a FRENCH SURGEON? Most of our TREON/TRION/DRION ancestors were surgeons from FRANCE. Thanks for any help. 3. My husband's lines: John ADRIAN (b. abt. 1822-1826 in OH, d. ?) +Elizabeth TIPTON (b. abt. 1828-1832 in Ohio, d. ?) John and Elizabeth are in Coshocton Cty., OH, 1860 and Moultrie Cty., IL, 1870. Children: - James Willard ADRIAN (1858 - 1933) died in Mattoon, Coles Cty., IL +Zara Ellen HOUGHTON (d: 1938) (kids: Martha, George Byron, Roy James, Glen Houghton, Frank Lemuel, Laura) - Madison M. ADRIAN (b: Abt. 1854) -- also seen as "Matthew" - Mary E. ADRIAN (b: Abt. 1860) - George W. ADRIAN (b: Abt. 1863) The 1870 census shows an elderly Elizabeth TIPTON living with them in Illinois. Her birthplace is shown as Maryland. I have strong feelings that this family will connect with the ADRIAN lines that went to Ohio from Maryland, but John has been a bugger to connect with anyone!
