My g-grandmother, May Adkins, and her 2 sisters, Maggie and "Wonnie" Adkins were orphaned when they were in there teens. My g-grandmother, May, had one child, Ruth, out of wed lock when she was young, that she raised along with "Wonnie". My grandmother told me that "Wonnie" was pregnant many times but never brought the babies home. Ruth couldn't understand this until she had a child of her own which she had to give up for adoption. "Wonnie" started having these babies in 1900, however, I can't find any record of their birth or any graves for these babies born to her. I just recently found out that "Wonnie's" real name was Ingram W. Adkins. They lived in Wayne Co. KY until their mother died after that they travelled around KY and Indiana. I'm not sure what happened to all these babies or where they were born. But Sandy Hook was an area where alot of their Adkins family was from. Unfortunatly, finding "My Adkin! s line" in Sandy Hook has proved to be a little more difficult than I had immagined!!!And I can only find these Adkins girls in one census and that was in 1910 with their mother, "Adeline" in Mt.Pisgah, after that I loose them! I know this only adds to the confusion, but I do know that she had these babies and never brought them home from the hospital. Wonnie later married James S. Kurl Sr. and had one child James Jr. "Jimmy" Kurl, and he died at age 12 of Tetanus from a bicycle wreck. (I still have that old newspaper article.) Please let me know if find anything on these children in your search...Thanks, Jill jbradley@rtccom.net
