Thelmar R. Adkins Lorain - Thelmar R. Adkins, 71, of Lorain, died Saturday, July 30, 2005, at home, following a lengthy illness. Adkins was employed U.S. Steel, retiring after 40 years' service, most it as a clerk in the No. 3 seamless mill. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and crossword puzzles. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ethel; sons Roger Adkins of Sheffield Township and John Adkins of Vale, N.C.; daughter, Terri Bender of Lorain; brothers Charles Adkins of Gastonia, N.C., and Gary Adkins of Blain, Ky; sisters Mary Glover of Gastonia, Rosalee Adkins of Belcher, Ky., Sadie Fitch of Pond, Ky., and Shelba J. Carter of Nashville, Ga.; and six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four stepgranddaughters and three stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Irene (nee Belcher) Adkins; and brother William and John Adkins and a brother in infancey. Friends may call Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at Wyers Funeral Chapel, 2900 North Ridge Road, Sheffield Township, where services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. Pastor Chuck Keesee of Midway Baptist Church, Elyria, will officiate.
