In Ronnie Adkins book "Adkins Land of York to Beech Fork", he states: "In 1790, probably in Hawkins County, Tennessee, Owen, Agnes and 2 of their children were murdered by indians. Son, Jessee, just two years old, was scalped but survived and is carried on in this history. Owen Jr. and one other child hid in a log until the indians were gone."
