I am still looking for the parents of Elijah Willoughby Hambleton Adkins (not sure where the two middle names came from - as far a documentation - so I keep them with this comment) and his wife Annie Hackworth. They were married 14 Aug 1811 Bedford Co VA. She died before 1850 where the family is found in Todd Co., KY. Would love to hear from anyone with any kind of relationship to this family! First Generation 1. Elijah Willoughby Hambleton ADKINS was born in 1790 in VA. DEEDS: Todd Co. KY Deed Book "O" pg 347-348 This indenture made and entered into this 29th day of April 1843, Elijah Adkins of the first part and Patterson A. Wirrnns (?) of the second part both of them County of Todd and the State of Kentucky. Correct ration of the sum of one dollar .... paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and for the further consideration herein after mentioned the said Adkins has bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell to the said Winns (?) the following described property .... Two Negro girls now in the possession of said Adkins by name Sarah and Mary. Sarah about eleven years old and Mary about thirteen years old to have and to hold said slaves with their increase to him the said Wimms and his heirs forever from the claim of heirs the said Adkins his and c and all other persons and warrants them sound and slaves for life. This indenture is entered into upon this express condition that whereas the said Adkins stands justly indebted to the said Wimms in the sum of two hundred dollars by promisary note bearing even date herewith and due the 25th day of December neset (?) now if the said Adkins shall well and truly pay off said notes with all interest that may accrue and all costs for the collection of the same together with the fee for recording this mortgage then the above abligations to be void othernite to remain in full force and in law.
