    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AJ.2ADIB/1511.1435.1516.1 Message Board Post: Catherine Straley (my line) married William Adkins about 1803 in Virginia, probably Lynchburg, where Catherine was born about 1775. Catherine's parents were Jacob Straley & Susan Barbor who emigrated in 1758 from Frankfort, Germany. Catherine & William had their son Straley in Virginia, then moved to Kentucky, where they lived at Little Sandy in Morgan County, KY. I have more on land grants and children of the son Straley, but I'm uncertain whether Caswell, Harrison & Joseph Adkins are Straley's brothers or other kin. They all received land grants too in the 1830s & 1840s. Please help with what info you can provide and let me know if you want more Catherine Straley family info. Cathy

    3. I finally madeit up to our Adkins family cementary on a hill by where my great grandparents house had stood so as some of you know there are some OLD graves in an area of the grave yard that is not maintained. My grandfather died last year so no one left but my uncle to take care of it but I am going to find someone with a bulldozer tolevel out the road(Path) up to it. The county will put gravel on it if I find that to be done. My dad and his parents and grandparents and his sister plus some others in the newer part farther up. My greatuncle's widow lives in a brick house at the bottom almost where the old house stood, a shack that had been a store years before my time or knowledge had been in the front by the drive way which is basically the same the garage (barn has always been there I think;) Anyway two of the old graves that stood upright with well printed names were a woman and a man withnames of who they were married to. There are ove 20 or more graves that someone who can do archaelogy with old graves can detect. This section is basically never maintained or ever was. My aunt says when my greatgrandfarher got the land those old graves were there and not much was said about them. I did not not satay and talk with all about the lands history. I fell twice coming down the hill because I have a weak left side. I hope the digital pictures look well because Iused a cane to beat back the tree limbs and all else to get good pics:) If anyone wants these pics of Adkins graves in Elliot County KY near Sandy Hook, not far from Moorhead, KY A nice drive from there since I was there for Thanksgiving. Let me know if you want the pics:) Linda [email protected] wrote: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AJ.2ADIB/1511.1435.1516.1 > > Message Board Post: > > Catherine Straley (my line) married William Adkins about 1803 in Virginia, probably Lynchburg, where Catherine was born about 1775.
