Jestin was married to my gguncle, Mark Shelton abt. 1857 but they had divorced by abt. 1870. There is a Winright Adkins 46 on the 1850 Grainger Co. census with a wife Sarah 39, Gilbert A. 19, Francis 17, Daniel 15, Winston A. 13, then (f)? 11, (it is shown exactly like this on my transcription) Mary 9, Archabald B. 7, Sarah A. S. 4, Winston D. Malicoat 18, VA-VA 1282-1339. The (f) 11 in the above census transcription is the correct age to be Jestin. Perhaps someone knows who this is, or has access to the actual census to check the actual name. Jestin is shown as Jane on later census records where we can identify her by her childrens names. I would think that Winright and Sarah Adkins could be easily traced on the Claiborne or Grainger Co. TN census. Some of these Adkins also migrated to and from Pulaski Co. KY.
