Surnames: Adkins/Houghtaling/Dempsey Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AJ.2ADIB/2536 Message Board Post: Through census records I've been able to trace the Adkins side of my family back to William & Phebe Adkins, living in Pequannock, NJ in 1850. William was born circa 1806 and Phebe was born circa 1813 - both in New Jersey according to the census. They had many children - the 1850 census is most complete with all of the children. Their son Ward is my great great grandfather. Ward moved to Seymour, CT. My grandfather Lee Elton Adkins lived in Darien, CT and during the depression, he went back to NJ to find whatever work he could. I'd love to be able to go back further, but have hit a wall. Any long lost cousins out there with more information?
