But just in case, here's what I have on David Green Adkins. Born Jackson Co. Mo. 1831. Parents Roland or William Roland b. abt. 1800 in Ky.and Martha Henson b. Tn.. Married Nancy Eveline Toms born 1837 Ky. in Buchannan Co. Mo. 1854. Children; James b. 1854, Andrew Jackson and George Washington (twins) 1856, Mary Jane 1859, Lihue 1860, Lizzie Ellen 1861, Mary Francis 1862, David R. 1867, Elihue 1869, Benjamin 1871, and Missouri Francis 1873. Married Joan Auston b. 1835 in Ky, in 1880. All births and marriages took place in Buchannan Co. Mo. I am currently thinking Roland was part of Thomas Adkins family (b. abt 1760 Old District 96 in SC. married to Ruthy Lynch) the family moved to Whitley Co Ky. From there they seemed to have spread out all over Ky. By 1830 Four of thier children are in Jackson Co. Mo. along with my Roland. By 1840 all are gone. Three of the sons show up again in Ky by 1850. My Roland we know died around 1831 in Mo. I checked the family line and cannot find a William or David in your time frame. If you would like to look, checkout rootsweb Thomas Adkins spouse Ruthy Lynch. most info provided by jwat69. Thanks again for your reply. Steve.
I recieved a phone call from American History Co. searching for the family of a Clifford Adkins who was born 1 May 1927 in Raleigh Co. WV and as I understand it he ran away from home (when his father remarried) and was living in a "home" in Boone Co. WV when he enlisted in the Army. He died in Korea in 1950. Does anyone know anything about this Raleigh Co. family. Sherranlynn

My Adkins lived in Clay county, WV, but these Adkins were related. I am trying to get as much information as possible. There was a Harmon Adkins who married Nancy Estep and an Isom Adkins who married a Nancy Estep. Not the same lady. Do you have any dates (even a guess) on the older Adkins man? Thanks, Debbie

Prior to 1930, I believe this is the Joseph Adkins found in Campbell Co., TN and then Whitley Co., KY. My line is from this area. I am almost certain the nephew in 1930, Lawson, was a son of my great great grandparents William and Lucretia Adkins. I have not had any luck finding William's parentage. If I am right about this, then William and Joe must have been brothers. Can anyone help me connect the dots to confirm this and perhaps finally find William's parents? This has given me fits for years so any help would be very much appreciated!

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AJ.2ADIB/2528.2 Message Board Post: This is probably a longshot on my part but I thought I'd give it a go anyway. The father of my great grandfather William Adkins (b. between 1867 - 1871) was, according to his Certificate of Death, supposedly named David. His mother's name was unknown by the informant. I have actually come to question the accuracy of this as I cannot connect him in any way to a David Adkins. However, I cannot completely discount it either. My William lived in the Campbell Co., TN and Whitley Co., KY area but later some of the family did move on to Harlan. After reading your post it occurs to me that they might have done so partially because of an earlier family connection to Harlan. William's parentage has been a brickwall for me for a long time. Do you perhaps have any information about who David might have married or any children he might have had?
