My Mother says that his name is Clarence Edward Adkins and that his wife is Vena Miller. We are not sure of the maiden name as my Mother remembers hearing the names Hager and Mullins associated with her family as well. Mom has Clarence Edward Adkins death date as Nov. 29, 1958. This is all I have except that Mom thinks he was born and lived in Mud River, Lincoln Co., WV. My Grandfather is Roy Adkins, My Mother who is living is Connie Sue Adkins (maiden). This is one of the many lines that I am researching and I would very much appreciate any info that can help me make these connections to this generation and beyond. Mom also thinks that Clarence is buried in the Barker Cemetary on Bolger or Bulger Rd. at Mud River, Lincoln Co. It is way up on a mountain as Mom remembers. Thanks everyone! Lynn

Joseph was born in 1902 on this one. There was another Joseph W in my files, but again, birth year is way to early. However, this Adkins line came from Pitsylvania County, VA and as your Adkins was also in Virginia, I am fairly sure they connect somehow. Do you have any other Adkins names from the 1700/1800's that would possibly help me in matching information for you. Bev

Hoping someone can help me solve a mystery. My grandfather was a son of Lissie (Lizzie?) Adkins, he was born in about 1885. Father's name was not ever listed. We don't know if Adkins was his mother's maiden name or married name. My grandfather was adopted by the Watsons when very young. This would have made her year of birth about 1874. She was identified in the census as a pauper, living with the family of Drury Evans, Jr. and Eliza A. Evans. Mollie's mother, my great grandmother, was Cussida Adkins, who at the 1880 census was a boarder with James A. and Elizabeth Fannin in Martinsburg, later Sandy Hook. Her son, Gideon Adkins, to be my grandfather, resided there as well.
