I am looking at the 1880 Illinois Soundex. It shows in Richland Co., Claremont Twp. W. H. Adamson, 42, KY Ida, W, 32 IL L?/ela, D, 5, IL Birtha, D, 3, IL Maud, D, 1, IL I believe these are the persons who you inquired about. I don't have handy a County Map showing the Townships, but presume your folks were in same county in either Madison or Olney Township. h/h- James Adamson, 37, OH h/h- Moses Adamson, 42, IL In 1850 In Richland Co. IL Census h/h 1233/1238 I only find a Robert Adamson but I can't read his place of birth. Wife Margaret 26, KY. They have a 10 year old son named Wm. G. , IL. *** This may be the W. H. above and your William H. I really haven't gotten into Illinois doing Adamson research. I note the 1850 IL census has lots of families born in Tennessee and Kentucky. So anyone having ancestors from TN or KY had better check IL for lost cousins. I recall that Simon Jr had descendants from TN go to MO. Also Adamson's from OH, found in northern MO. They would almost had to come across the Illinois flatlands. I don't know if this information is relavent or not. Sure hope it helps someone.
